Update 3-29-13
Well the day finally came and went way better than i was anticipating. Spent all day on the dyno at Speed Inc yesterday and had a great time! All those nerves going crazy for the last couple days ended up being for nothing!!
Ok so as i said, i was unable to locate any E85 at the pump (last place i got it at in december is now E78) so it was tuned on 93 oct to 11 psi and 110 beyond that up to 22psi. I was plenty happy with the numbers and decided not to push the stock heads any further than that.
93 oct.....11 psi.....700rwhp/595rwtp.
110 oct....22 psi....949rwhp/761rwtq.
Took the opportunity to wash and wax the car for some half way decent pics.....see page 8 and 10 for more recent pics.......
10/27/12...Quick compilation vid of the 3 new passes (4 total to date) i made saturday & some playin' around on a closed course along the 2+ hour drive to the track and home. Got All new PB as it was my first ever 9 sec pass (x3), my first 5 sec 8th mile pass, my first 1.2x short time, and my fastest pass ever @ 144mph. Midwest Chassis is swapping from my 3.70 gears to 3.25's this week so i can make a full pass. It wasn't short by much but still has more in it. Hope i can keep a 1.2x sixty with the new gears!!
10/20/12....1.44 Sixty foot and 9.70 @ 141.52 off the trailer, first pass.
Pretty much a base tune, stumbled right after launch, ran it on the 9# W/G springs and 3.70 gear. Not sure on RW but figure about 3400 lbs. That was the only pass we got in due to the track being crazy busy and too many wrecks. Good news is we went home in 1 piece!
10/16/2012...First start up on E85!!.......
10/19/2012 Testing the trans brake & 2 step on the 9# springs and it FINALLY tasted some boost for the first time!...........
Hey guys, not looking for kudos or anything here, basically just documenting the build. I'm working a lot of hours right now so i will update nightly til i get to where it's at currently.
Bought the car in November of 2010 with 56k miles on the clock and drove it back 625 miles over the course of 2 days and avg'd 19.5mpg! (stopped to visit my mom on the way back). I bought the the car with a TON of mods done to it at a price i couldn't resist. Most of the conversion from n/a with a nearly unused nitrous outlet stand alone setup has been sold off for upgrads to fund the build of the car to how i wanted it to be.
I purchased my 56k mile 2001 SS with a Texas Speed 402, 235cc TFS heads, Fast92/NW90, 42# inj, ARH 1 7/8" stainless LT's, Nitrous Outlet 92mm plate kit with N/O stand alone wet kit, Performabuilt lvl 2 4l60e, FTI converter, Moser 9" w/4.11's, all c/m BMR rear suspension and sfc's, PST aluminum d/s, QA1's all around, Drag lites & M/T radials all around, 6pt c/m wolfe cage, and many many more upgrades.
First thing i did was sell off the n2o kit as i had plans for turbo and new nothing about nitrous. Often wish now since my car has been down since Oct 28th of 2011 for the conversion that i had just gone that route, but oh well, i'm way into it now and have wanted to have a turbo car for about 10 years now! I've tried 2 times before and ran out of funds and had to part the projects out.
As i purchased it....
And then the fun really began by personalizing the car......

And then it got a little bit SERIOUS!! lol.......
Dan the Fab Man @ Speed Inc doin' the X!
End result got me to a new personal best of 10.37 @ 128.5 with a 1.37 60' time on a 295/55 MT DR! Big thanks to Eric & Jason @ Midwest Chassis for getting the car to hook and book!

Next up was the purchase of a used KYTP T6 kit that had been drastically altered but was not disclosed or discovered until i started the build a bit over 6 months later when the rest of the pieces were coming together. It was originally made to stand the radiator up in the usual way and retain the hood latch assy and all but once the install began, it became clear that Something was up!
I've never done anything of this magnitude before but figured anything i fucked up i could have fixed. So, i dug in with the cutoff wheel and got myself to the point of no return which got me committed to finishing this build!
And this is about the time where i began to scratch my head and think, WTF?! This can't be right! There's no F'n way the radiator is gonna fit where it's supposed to!
This is where i was at After setting the radiator in Front of the core support and removing the hood latch assy & washer tank....There was no way around it so i decided i'd just have to grin and bear it and use hood pins. I have 2 local pals running the AeroCatch kits and they looked as good as they can vs an unmodified hood so i got a set. (shown later)
Mockup of radiator and intercooler location......found out the down pipe i got was about useless with the extended crossover pipes throwing the location way off so cut it at a 90* and it will be completed by a friend of mine.
I was very much concerned by how low the turbo sat so i picked up a pair of 1/2" SS T6 flanges w/SS gaskets on ebay for $22 shipped and a piece of 4 1/4" oval tubing from a local tube supplier and had my fab guy work it out to the max space i had to raise the turbo before hitting the charge pipe. Came out just as i had drawn it out and was pretty pleased with it!
First attempt at this and my welder had never done anything like this before so we decided to keep it simple!

Other crap accomplished during the down time and pics of good friends who helped me to get it to the point it is now....
No Judging!! hahahaa sorry guys, i had to do it!
Miles gettin' down on the hood and made it look easy!
Doing this for the first time and never seeing it done before certainly had me nervous! lol
This was a load of fun too...Not!

haha no worries man. i think it was done to make room for a larger turbo down the line but i bought it from a guy who bought it from a guy that Josh @ kytp built it for and 1 or the other didn't relay the changes made to it. I certainly would not have bought this kit knowing this ahead of time as it's not what i wanted. I'd call this more of a drag kit with the changes done to it but whatever, just gonna work through it at this point.

As of now......
I sent the car up to a friend of mine who is very much in the know with turbo cars and has many friends who are as well so when he offered to finish up the last few things and start the car up, i jumped all over having someone with vast knowledge and experience whom i trusted more than anyone else get the car running! So that's where it is now.
First issue so far.....i picked up a computer on here after selling my heads/cam package to a guy who wanted my old computer as well. So i picked up a 411 pcm on here and sent it to speed inc for a base tune with all my specs. When my buddy Phil went to start the car, it would fire and die Every time! Well he has a twin turbo ls car running e85 & 160# injectors vs my single with 80# injectors but just to start it and let it idle off of his computer wouldn't be an issue so he went ahead and did that to at least eliminate that as and issue and Boom! Started and ran first try!
First start up......hope this works for anyone who may wanna view it....

So he sent my pcm back to speed inc and found no issue and while it was there, i scored some 160# injectors of my own so had them switch that info before returning it. Went to start it and it still would fire and die. On the HP Tuners it would say invalid vin/os so instead of dicking around with it any further since the season is Quickly coming to a close, i spoke to the guy i got my pcm from and he sent me another out the following day after deleting vats. Cant say enough about how cool as **** he was for doing that!
So while we were waiting for the new pcm (which has arrived) and having scored the 160# injectors, we decided to make the switch to E85 now vs waiting to do it over the winter so i had him pick me up a magnafuel 725 pump, i snatched up a metal f-body tank and a sump is being installed now and should be ready for pickup in the next couple days.
Decided also on going with the MSD boost controller vs the Eboost2 shown in the vid which just arrived as well and will be installed shortly. So now it just needs a feed line and fittings now to complete the fuel system and the car should be ready to fire up again and then hit the track to get the tune in and the boost controller & suspension dialed in.
Also going to a 3.25 gear from the 3.70.
More to come by next weekend hopefully!
Switching to E85!

I couldn't agree more Rob!
I may litterally CRY if it still runs 10's Venom! LOL
I guess this was a Far bigger pain in Phils ***** to install than what was expected but i'm told it's done! Just need a -10 feed line, fittings and filter and then toss in the 160# injectors, mount the pump, install the MSD boost controller & boost guage, fill the tank and should be ready to fire up again, this time on E85 and hopefully this computer works better than the last. Fingers crossed and updates in a couple days
