Default S475 turbo: 07 LH6 5.3 or 05 LQ9 6.0? Neep help.

Okay so I have been collecting parts to put my 95 Transam back together with a turbocharged LS engine. My original plan was to go with the turbo 5.3. So far I bought: T6 S475 turbo 96mm turbine(1.32 AR), Tooley spring kit, LS9 gaskets, Head studs, Lil John cam, injectors, MS3 gold box, complete fuel system, powergilde trans etc... My plans were to use the aluminum LH6 2007 5.3 that I bought a few months back. Last week I ran across a good deal on 2005 LQ9 6.0 complete with the 317 heads and all so I bought it too. Now would I be better to put all those parts I bought in the 6.0 or just keep on building the 5.3? Im looking for the most HP and reliabilty from the factory engine. This is a 3,100lb street/strip car that I'm wanting to run 8.90's@150+mph. Thanks Clint

People are making unreal power out of both. But if it were me I would run the 6.0. The cubes will help spool the s475 a little quicker as well as the added security of the iron block. Yes it will be heavier but you will easily eclipse that with the gains I think. Sell the LH6 and use that money for tubular kmember and battery relocation to offset the added weight. WIN WIN

Pluse with the s475 being easily upgradeable to an s480, the 6.0 will leave you room to grow, WHEN not IF, you want to go faster.

Yeah Kind of what I was thinking too, the 5.3 will do the job but will take more psi boost to reach the same HP level of the 6.0. The 6.0 also has 317 heads and 40 more ci. For free and all hot Rodders love that. Haha if the 5.3 would be more durable then I would stick with it and I already tubular k-member,A-arms and light weight Aerospace brakes up front.

Well I thought the S475 might have been a little small for a 6.0 but after I saw stock48 ran 8's on his first outing to the track with his Nova that has the smaller T4 version S475 with 83mm turbine and 1.10AR, the turbo I have will work great on a 6.0. I just wanted to see if anybody out there would convince me to build the 5.3 instead.

Ive really been racking my brain also on whether to go ahead and get an s480 now or possibly the 475 instead since this will mostly be a street car I think I may enjoy that quicker spool a little more.

Go with a S480 on the 6.0.

I think you should get it running with the 5.3 and then you can take your time and and go forged internals in the 6.0
