I look forward to updates on both how the car runs and how you like the sloppy trans brake.

Me too, this will be my first transbrakeish experience. I used to play with little imports that were AWD so traction was rarely an issue. This is my first car of this caliber.

You are going to LOVE that first launch when releasing the button and the trans downshifting to first and just blasting through the brakes and then you realize oh guess I can get off the brakes now, lol.

I don't think I was on it long enough. It was quick, but nothing stupid. I did not sit on it very long. I really need to practice my launch. To make a long story short my track experience was not the best tonight. The track was slick between the 1/8 and 330 mark. A bit tire car about went into the wall right there in the right lane where I made both my runs. Both times on the slicks it got squirrly and I had to pedal it and get back in.

2nd run I was running with a rail car and when I topped the 1/4 at about 140 and was slowing down when at about 120 the rail car veered into my lane to try to swing wide and make the cutoff. I locked up all 4 wheels at that point and nearly slid into that piece of crap. I was steaming mad.

What made it worse is it did not display my 1000 ft or 1/4 time or speed.

Did it read the 60ft? Did that part of the track hook for you?

mine is a stick with the 0411 ecm and i put the efilive cos5 nitrous tables to use on the msd 2 step. lots of flames and faster boost. i heard autos are opposite though; add timing and pull fuel to make boost.

Yup the line was hooking. 60 ft dropped .2 but looking back in the logs I was not giving it enough time and only leaving at 1 psi. Whopping 1.90 60 ft, but that was down .2 from leaving with no boost.

Yeah once you start leaving with some boost its a whole different ball game, lol. Even before I found out about the sloppy brake I was leaving in 2nd gear since I could cut a 1.6 60ft in 2nd gear as opposed to 2.0 in first, then with the sloppy brake I got down to a 1.46 and called it quits since I still had to drive 120 miles home and didn't know how the trans would respond if I kept pushing it, I had hit my goal by that point so I left, but I still feel as though I could have gotten the 60ft down even farther with the sloppy brake had I tried.

Hoping to get to a new test spot my buddy found that actually has written permission. It is not huge, but should be good enough for launches.

Will definitely be doing this to my 4l80e this weekend prior to installing it in the car. With this mod, do I need to purchase a 2step or not??

I have an optishift trans controller. How would this be wired in with that? Also, would the controller get fucky if I do this?

you really only need to ground the wire for the 3rd gear

just follow the trace so you can do the same thing

should work fine since megasquirt and optishift really dont have any closed circut check engine or feedback features so they shouldn't care at all if you are activating it outside of the software

Just to rebump the bump....this worked awesome at the track this weekend. Does have some lag, using a cheaper relay though. Should have some ssr arriving tomorrow for other stuff. Anyone wired up the sloppy TB using one of those instead? If so what did you run to what posts for same operation? If I knew that info it would be an easy swap for me from relay to ssr to test one on one

ime, the lag comes from the time it take for the line pressure holding 3rd to dump. switching to an SSR did nothing for me. if your brakes will hold until your stall there are easier ways to build boost ...fuel and advance

Yes this is in a Colorado service truck. Brakes aren't holding jack lol. Doing my own tuning via hptuners. I'm open to pointers for areas to adjust to assist the spool if you care to look at a tune file or can give .02 via pm. Don't want to derail this thread....I'll save the ssr for other stuff I need
