Default Boost piston

Best boost pistons for 5.3 turbo build

Probably going go with the Wiseco JY pistons but want to know if its worth the extra $$ to go full custom set?

Best piston for what? Need more input. Projected power/rpm?

The "best" piston would be a custom unit setup for your specific application by any of the large race piston manufacturers.

Block is a L33 with stock heads Callie Comp H-beam, Stock crank, custom tickperformance cam, upgraded valvetrain( haven't decided yet) Borg Warner S480 83mm inducer 1.25 AR 9.5" race cover, Brutespeed PTFE 1400hp fuel system or Fast 1000hp fuel system, Meth kit, Ford 9" 35 spline wavetrac, RPM Level 5 4L80E, Holley EFI, Edelbrock Super Victor 4150, Wilson 4150 Intake Elbow, Wilson 90mm LSX TB... and so on.

Call up weisco and ask what the "JY dog" pistons are rated to HP wise. I've heard from 600-1200 FW hp from forum members and have still yet to hear a definite answer. Most of the names I trust tell me they are hype and no stronger than a 2005+ LS piston.

Best option IMO would be to bore it to a 5.7. (3.9x) and buy a piston known to handle the power you want. Diamond, JE, etc....

No, I'll just buy a custom set or keep the stock

I don't think you can go 3.9x on that block since its the aluminum block.

I think he will be ok with just a set of the JY pistons from Wiseco.

What heads do you recommend?

I've been talking with Martin @Tickperformance a lot about this since I want to build it right the first time. I also have a friend building a 1400hp turbo 408, but that is another monster entirely. haha
Thanks for the help.

DemonicZ,

You're in reno.. Go talk with Bill over at BME(Bill Miller Engineering) in Carson. He builds pistons for race duty vehicles, like Top Fuel and others, as well as street duty and everything in between.. Everything's done in house there for a great price, too.
