Finally got a couple of my set up. It is a 90* angle in/out from Frozen boost and seems to be handling things awesome thus far. As you can see in the picture I kind of have it angled in the fender. The inlet is on the bottom pointed at the ground. I have the turbo pointed down with it's 90* Vband fitting pointed towards the intercooler then a 90* silicone hose going up into the intercooler. The rest is pretty visible.

Looks great Sarg! That's how I'll most likely mount my air/water IC. What the approximate dimensions? Doubt I'd be able to run it vertically like that in my GTO though.

Nice setup. I like how short the cold side is because of where you located it.

It is a little longer than the photo makes it look. But from turbo to intercooler is maybe 12 inches total. Intercooler to intake maybe 18-24 inches.

Looks like 16x12ish. Here is the exact intercooler:

thanks for the line. Once i get my car in the garge im going to take the front end apart to see what i can fit. is it beneficial to fit the largest A2W possible? if im planning on 1100ish at the crank is there a point in running an A2W the size of thadds?

I don't think you can really go too large with an intercooler (within reason). Fit the largest core you can. Run the largest water pump you can. Run the largest water lines you can. Just remember that most pumps die off quick with pressure. So if you run larger lines with a larger core, you will have less pressure for the pump to overcome. The less pressure, the more flow and the better cooling you will get. I went with a Rule 2000 pump, 1" ID water lines and the above intercooler. I only see increases of about 10* even on 20 psi. It is working very well for an ebay priced intercooler.

No worries. I have used the Frozen boost stuff on a couple different builds now and never been upset. They are decent. The water tanks kind of suck and without modification you will not be able to use a Rule pump inside of them. The fittings leak and are generally not worth a ****. The intercooler and heat exchanger have been perfect though.

Don't forget to price shop. I swear I found my exact intercooler for about $200 less on ebay. Same dimensions and everything. At $499 that is one expensive intercooler for an ebay unit. Pretty sure they are all from the same factory in china anyways.

I just ordered that intercooler last friday and it will be here on wednesday. If i remember i will come back to this thread to post pictures when i get it. It will be going under the dash in the fox body i am building right now. Hot side is done just waiting on the intercooler to run the rest of the cold side.

I have been looking for a nice sized water tank for the mustang build and am probably going with a chiseled performance tank. For a 7.6 gl tank its $180, cheap and will hold enough ice/water. http://www.chiseledperformance.net/watertanks.htm

That one looks decent too and can be made to mount the rule pumps.

I would go with that tank form Chiseled. I don't think you can beat Robbert's quality for the money.

Here's the one he built for me.

Can someone help me out with where I can find some information about A2W vs A2A? Seems like this setup is geared more to race cars, not really street cars. Really don't know the differences between the two.

That is just an often propagated myth that really has very little factual basis. I have put A2W on a number of street cars and never been disappointed. If you do it right they work great and that does not mean spending a ton of cash. My buddy had many more problems with couplers and such on his a2a set up than after he switched to a2w. He mad good gains in hp and throttle response, shortened his piping up tremendously and has not had a single issue in 2 years.

What I did with the thought of having a good street set up is run a smallish heat exchanger and a water tank. Some guys get good results just using a tank and no heat exchanger (kind of like a radiator for the a2w set up to help shed heat) but for me I like to add an exchanger to the mix. So components would be intercooler, heat exchanger, pump and tubing. That's pretty much it. I ran mine where the water from the tank is pumped out of the tank by the in tank Rule 2000 pump into the intercooler. Then it goes from there to the heat exchanger and back to the tank. That way if I add ice, that ice water goes straight to the intercooler first. But I have yet to use ice and always have super low temps even in traffic.
