Default what size and brand intercooler for 1000whp

I have a built ls3 i plan on running a ljms billet s476 with the 96mm turbine t4 housing what intercooler and what size intercooler piping should i run i also have a holley hi ram intake and plan on getting a 102mm throttle body for it so should i run a 4 inch charge pipe? The car is going to be mainly used for drag racing so spool isnt a big concern

for a full time drag car I'd run a water air and an ice tank with pump in back

I have all that stuff for a good price if you need it. the intercooler came out of a BB procharged boat and I bought the water circulation pump

I thought about running on the street but it's too much hassle and doesn't work as well as air to air

PM me if interested, I can send you the price and pics

Yes drag car see if you can do water air. It does work very well

If air to air, i would say atleast a 25x9x4 core minimum. You'll still likely have slightly high iat's depending on boost level required. I ran a treadstone 25x9x3.5 thick and saw 170 deg on 25 psi track run in 45 deg ambient lol. Slightly thicker with improved airflow thru it would help, but more surface area would also help if you can fit it

I run water water now on street with 5 gallon tank and no issues on street. Works so well and doesnt heat up that much yet. Water tank may see 100-110 deg in warm days so far in preliminary testing but its still more efficient. How often do you do 7-9 sec pulls on street at 1000 whp? Thats 150-170 mph.. Even starting at 100 deg, water water is going to be effective. 130-150 deg iat then doesnt matter much.

On a 15 psi pull, i can run 3 seconds and do basically 50 mph roll to 90 ish mph and see 2-3 deg iat rise and thats not even having the water pump on lol

I dont believe the class is allowed water to air it would be nice but i think im gonna have to stick with air to air and from what i can gather i should just get the biggest thickest intercooler i can fit but i still dont know what size piping to run

102mm TB and 4" tubing would be considered massive for 1000hp, but from a full throttle drag perspective, it can certainly do no harm.

As for IC...just fit the biggest one you can, and generally Garrett cores are recommended as the best.

I made 1000 on stock 78mm tb and 3" piping. Went to 4" now but still same tb. Planned on upgrading to 90-92mm someday. But have noticed it seems to have better throttle feel off boost in normal driving with the larger pipe.

limited to an air to air.... 3.5 from the turbo to IC... then 4 inch from the intercooler to the TB if you can fit it.

ive had luck with the treadstones, one setup ive done was on e85 and only gained 24* thru a 8s run at 24 psi

setup uses 4" to feed the tb
