Default Help!!!! 4.8 turbo cam

So I'm building my 4.8 for my fox body mustang and I can't find anything on a tick stage 2 turbo cam on a stock bottom 4.8 with hardened pushrods and valve springs.. The turbo is a 76mm 1.15 AR and with a 4l80e hd2 kit and circle d 3600 stall convertor.. My question is will this cam work or is it too big.. Looking for 650-700 rwhp on e85 and more strip then street use if any

With stock heads I don't see that cam being anywhere near ideal. Even with some other heads, I think you are looking at mismatch between the cam and turbo on a 4.8. Remember that alcohol based fuels carry some oxygen with them, so the intake/exhaust bias isn't the same as with gasoline. That being said, your goals are probably doable with those parts.

See what happened was I was originally going to build a lq4 so I bought this cam and pac springs amongst other things (turbo, slicks ect) but I found a killer deal on a good running 4.8 and couldn't pass it up.. Due to life my budget got cut so now I want to see if it will work but it looks like it might not.. I did find this and he used a tick stage 2 on a 4.8.. This is my first lsx build and also my first turbo build so any knowledge thrown my way is greatly appreciated.. If this cam is really not going to work I'll have to wait a little longer but I'll buy another one

Which tick stage 2 turbo cam? Need the actual specs, he's got a few stage 2 turbo cams for LS motors I believe. Some ground specifically for the smaller motors.

4.8's are pretty rev happy, so a cam geared to suit that can go along way, esp. if you have the intake to match.

Unless you got it for free, I wouldn't buy an LS6 cam, lots better choices. I liked the Tripple 12 JFR (212/212 @ 112 .56x lift) cam on my 4.8. But I was using an OEM LS1 intake and not taking advantage of the 7000-75000 or so rpm the 4.8's are capable of if setup right. It was plenty of cam for 600-700hp. I was running 9.0 @ 150ish with my super mild 4.8 setup at about 3000lb on 19lbs of boost (s476 turbo) .

Interesting. I searched for the cam he mentioned and based my opinion on the first result I saw, not thinking that there would be multiple grinds referred to by the same name.

Wow 9.0 @150 is moving with a 4.8... The cam specs are 231/231 605/605 115+2

My car weights 3200 with me in it and it's caged (8 point) if I can get to 700rwhp and or anywhere in the mid nines I would be loving life...
I have to look into that triple 12 cam some more

that is a lot of cam for a 4.8 and I'm sure it will make good hp numbers but it will hurt spool up. what you need is good average power thru the rpm curve not peak power.

the triple 12 is a better choice. and sence you have a converter the turbo you use needs to match. id say a 78/75 or borg s475 with a 83 or 87 turbine and t4 housing whould work well and spool good.

Too much cam for a single small turbo IMO. What "76mm" do you have? Need the exh wheel sizes.
