Default Crazy Incon Question

I'm not sure why I'm asking, as I already have a turbo kit on order, but why can't the incon kit be copied? Maybe with a mild steel log instead of the cast manifolds. Just curious, I know I'm not the first to think about this and I'm sure there is a good reason no one has reproduced the kit.

Lots of people have thought about it, but a) casting is expensive and b) the turbo's are SMALL. The intercoolers are also fairly small. The best example of a reasonable facsimilie would be Jim's new twin kit. I'm sure you've seen the pics.

What castings are you talking about, the manifolds? Were the Incon turbos smaller than other turbos on the market now?

Jose would be an excellent person to chime in.

I sent him my kit to see if the kit could be reproduced. There is not doubt that it can but the price would be more than the f-body crowd would pay for cast manifolds. It certainly would be more than the price the kit was initially introduced at. There are not enough people that would pay the high price to make money back on the kit in a reasonable amount of time.

I talked to a couple of engineers and one in particular quoted me $40k for the molds (thats dirt cheap) for the manifolds only. NOTHING else. The initial quote was $80k, I guess China isn't so bad afterall.

I think Jose wanted to just get the manifolds made and add on the turbos and the end user could finish off the kit. Pretty much gravy after that anyways.

No dice.

Why couldn't the cast manifolds be made out of mild steel or ss manifolds to produce the same turbo location and look as the original cast manifolds. I'm not asking for an exact replica, but a similar setup.

in that case speed inc is working on it as you speak.
cheak out Jim's thread.
its what you want but better as it will allow bigger turbos.

The incon turbo's ARE small. They are on a T28 hotside or something like that. Not a T3, and certainly not a T4. Turbo's are limited and expensive, and anything over stock cubes and 15ish psi is a hard move. Ask onfire (428cid) or Harlan or anyone.

I'd like to see you hit 900rwhp.

There's a local guy that just upgraded his Incons and he's gunning for 850rw.

Who the f#ck cares anyway? I wouldn't trade this kit for anything else out there.

Blouch turbo said the bigger -12 cartridges going in my incons should do 850-900rwhp since i got 736 out of the little ones. I think i coulda got more on racegas but i am cheap and all about daily driver. I agree the intercoolers are small...good for maybe 600

I'm curious to see the durability of the manifolds.
