Default D1-sc on a stock LS1 , pulley size to make 9 PS1

Hi
what size pullie are you guys running to make 9 PSI with your D1-sc , on your stock LS1 motor?

I have a 4.0 , and a 4.25 8 rib pullies for my D1-sc,
my car is getting tuned very soon,
so i need to know what size pullie will make about 9 PSI.

i have the 4.25 on there now, but the car is not dyno tuned so i cant get on it at all.

Procharger is telling me that the 4.25 will make 13 psi and the 4.5 will make 10-11 psi,

my friend has a P1-sc installed on his stock LS1, and he makes 9-10 psi with his 4.0 pullie,

so i figured the bigger 4.25 would slow down the d1 a bit and give me the same boost as a P1 with a 4.00
well i dont know
let me know what u think
thank you for your help

My car is a 01 SS M6
accfab 75mm T-body
Razor methonal injection
Fikse 17" mag wheels ,9" front 10.5 rear, with 315 BFG drag radials
soon installing FLP long tubes with test pipes, (no cats).

With bone stock exhaust you would want a 4.50 pulley to see 9 psi. With headers and a cat back your 4.25 should be about right. I'd leave the 4.25 on there and install the headers right away before you get it tuned. Bob

TrakDay's car is a GTO, which uses a smaller ATI crank pulley than the f body's come with. Since the ATI crank pulley is smaller on the GTO, you can't compare what boost his GTO makes with his blower pulley. Bob

Doh... I always forget about that. Damn GTOs gotta be different in every way shape and form.

Lawnboy, what is your compresion? Its going to take a smaller pulley to make more boost when your comp. is lower.

I think it is 7.5" , but not positive

not trying to highjack the thread but how do you measure the pullies? the diameter across the whole thing or where the belt would actually sit? do they make an 8" crank pullie? what would an 8" and 3.75" pullie make on a d1sc?

Where the belt sits is where you would measure. There is a stamped number on the side of the pulley that lets you know what size it is. ATI does not make a larger crank pulley, but we have had larger crank pulley's made in the past. ASP could probably supply you with a larger crank pulley.
As far as how much boost you would make, it depends on your combination, and your elevation and what you rev the engine to. Bob

That is funny. I talked to a guy at SDPC with my engine combo for my Formula and he told me that with a 7.25" crank/4.25" blower pulley I would see atleast 16psi of boost at 6000rpm. Well, I got it all running and I am only seeing 10-12psi. I still have a 4" and 3.7" pulley to play with.

If you have an 8 rib D-1SC kit, the crank pulley is a 7.65". With a 4.25" pulley, I would expect to see the 10 to 12 psi of boost that you are seeing. The largest pulley these kits come with is typically a 4.50" pulley, which will get you 8 to 9 psi. We only see 16 psi with a very small pulley.
Somebody was smokin something... lol Bob

I have the pulley set up that comes with the Procharger 8lb kit which I believe is a 7.65" crank and a 4.5" blower pulley. (Bob is this correct?)

I see about 9.5psi on a stock heads, stock cam, stock bottom end motor. I have headers, no cats and magnaflow catback.

On a side note what is the impeller speed with the stock pulley set up, Bob?

Correct, you have a 7.65 crank pulley on the 8 rib LS1 F Body kit, and a 4.50 blower pulley is normally the largest pulley supplied with these kits. 9.5 psi is on the high side with headers, no cats and a cat back. I would expect you to be at 8 psi with your exhaust mods.

To determine the impeller speed, the following formula is used:

Maximum impeller speed= crankshaft pulley diameter (N1) divided by supercharger pulley diameter (N2),
multiplied by the step-up ratio (4.10 for the P-1SC/D-1SC), multiplied by engine rpm at redline.
lmpeller RPM = (N1/N2) x 4.10 x engine RPM

41,820 rpm is what I come up with on my 2nd cup of coffee if you shift at 6000 rpm. Bob

Yeah I know that 9.5 is high for my mods but I've referenced it from two spots and they keep saying the same.

The P1SC must be way different as a 4 3/8" pulley produces only about 5-7 PSI

Quick Reply: D1-sc on a stock LS1 , pulley size to make 9 PS1
