Default "Flex Joint" & Scav. Pump Q's

Do you think I would NEED to put any Flex joints in my turbo set-up? The motor will have solid motor mounts and the turbos will be supported with brackets.

Also, Do you think I will need to run a Scav pump for the oil return from the turbos. The turbo drains are 12" above the oil returns in the oil pan, but the turbos are out 18" to the side. Will the drain lines have enough "pitch" to drain without a scav pump??

Heres some pics....

Thanks - Ron

Can you take some better pictures?
That looks like a really nice setup to a nice start on that project. I'd like to see a lot more pictures anyways!
From what it looks like you will need one or two scavenge pumps. Those look too low for gravity.

enginegear makes a nice pump. Ive never been a fan of the mocal/tilton pumps because of their diaphragm design.

doesn't look like you need a pump from the pics.

and you sure don't need a flex either. Good looking fab work.

I dunno, I don't think there will be enough of a drain angle back to the pan.

TT402...can you post some pictures at the turbo height compared to the motor? So we can see how the turbos sit in reference to the pan? Thanks

Sometimes, you can compensate for a shallow return angle by using a larger diameter drain hose. My suggestion is to use 5/8" or greater. I had drainage problems with my setup and replaced the 1/2" drain hose with a 5/8" hose.

Here are some more pics. Like I said, The turbos are 18" outwords from the drain to the oil pan return. And 12" above the drain in the pan.

You can see where the hole is in the pan (front) I have one on each side.

Heres another pic

Thanks - Ron

You should have no trouble getting those to gravity drain, as long as you run your oil line so there are no droops or up hill sections to retain oil. As long as there level or down hill, they will drain fine.

Looks very nice BTW
