Default STS T76 upgrade

I was looking to go with a Turbonetics TC76 from forced inductions with the F1 turbine wheel with about a .96 A/R or there abouts. Maybe the .84 tangential or .81, but I'm leaning towards the .96.

Would there be any benefits to going with a on center turbine housing vs a tangential fit wise? This is for my new 408 motor.

Thanks for the input.

Oh yea, how much power do you want to make, what size is your motor, and are you A4 or M6?

.96 will spool considerably slower with a manual, and the .81 will support at least 650rwhp.

I've got a stalled built 4l60, 3000 Vig 3 disk. I don't really worry about spooling a 76 with a 408.
Power, whatever I can get really, 600-700 range realistically.

Zombie runs a .96 and says it spools fast and hard and hes only runin a 370 or 364. I would consider even an 1.05 or 1.15 range not real sure what other options you have as far as larger. plus you have a high stall. Im sure zombie will chime in but I think I read hes going to a bigger turbo to shoften the hit of the current turbo, which is a 76 also.

As BigJls1 stated, the T76 with the .96 a/r I ran hit really hard and made the car difficult to drive at 15psi on the street, and there were still things I could have done to it to make it spool even faster, I had 5' of uninsulated exhaust piping right before the turbo. I lowered my WG spring to 8psi and used a boost controller to lag the spoolup a little to help with traction.

Good luck getting the trans to live with your power, i'd pull it and sell it now while it's still good.

The next higher A/R i think is 1.00 then 1.15. Might be an option, but there isnt a huge difference from .96 to 1.00

I'd probably run it at 10 psi or less most of the time. But a trans upgrade would be in the works much past that. Maybe give it 15 once on the dyno just for giggles, or to know whats there. I'll race it, but its not a race car.

Thanks for all the input guys

also I read on Garretts website that they never made an on center housing. They said something about on centers not being ideal for spooling. I'll see if i can dig it up.
