Dyno'd at FLP, before and after results of better air inlet on D1
Took my Z28 back up to FLP to be dyno'd after removing the stock ATI inlet hat and using 4" pipe with a big K&N. The only other change was to the exhaust, but I doubt it was changed enough to change a thing. The car picked up maybe 2 HP ay peak, but made 30-40 HP more in the midrange. I think the reason people don't see much ET gain by doing this is that you are staying in the upper RPM range all the way down the track, where the power difference isn't much. Its still a worthwhile mod for street driven cars IMO.
As for the numbers, I made 739 RWHP on 13 psi, 93 octane. This is through an A4, 12 bolt, and big *** MT's. We're not pushing this thing hard at all. We could pulley it up to 15-16 psi and make close to 800, but I'm already on borrowed time with the trans/rear end.
I also wanted to thank the guys at FLP, they continue to impress me with their knowledge and quality work. We were there all day, they made us feel like we were more than welcome and even bought us lunch! The new shop is spotless and very well equipped. I strongly recommend them to anyone looking to make big power! I got to meet some other guys with big HP blower cars, talk shop, and as always learned a ton from Dan, who taught me how to read plugs the right way.
Thanks guys! See you at the open house.....unless, of course, I get the urge for more power sooner!

Did you switch inlets on the dyno or were you just comparing to older results?
Interesting you did not see anything at peak and some claim as much as 50rwhp peak.
Between no inlet and the ATI with a big filter I gain around 20 peak (nothing anywhere else) but it doesnt pick up a thing at the track without it, most likely from picking up the hotter air being right behind the radiator with no inlet or maybe some weird airflow in that area. I'm sure it depends on the blower speed also, if you are maxed out most likely the little less restriction wont show up at high rpm but will show up in the midrange where the blower is more efficient and can use some extra air.
Who knows Good numbers either way..

I'll have to check the graph on torque, I think it was 660-ish.
I'm far from maxing out, 3.85 pulley on 13 psi.
I didn't switch inlets on the dyno, but I don't think the conditions were very different and the car is unchanged. We even put new plugs in.
My next step will probably be a 50 shot, just for fun.

I'm going FI with the stuff in my sig, the tranny is 'relatively' built (good parts, we'll see how well it stays together). I'm just curious how this single disk converter will hold up to power and where it's going to truely flash at with around 10-12 lbs of boost. I don't plan on locking it up on the dyno with more than 8 lbs of boost (or locking it up at the track for that matter).
Is yours pretty true to the stall speed it's rated at? Do you know if the single disk's are rebuildable to a triple?

I really don't know. I do know you wouldn't want to lock a single disk on a high HP car. You may be right, it may be for lockup purposes. I have to lock mine to stay off the limiter in the 1/4. Either way, I have always had great luck with PI convertors. Its one of those few parts on the car I don't really worry about.

Not really. I made a half *** pass summer before last and went 10.42 at 135. I got it on video, looked like a 12 second pass. I launched it very soft, since I have a 4L60E and wasn't sure if it would hook anyway. 1.63 short time on that pass, which is very bad for this car. Since then I've dropped 300 lbs out of the car and plan to launch it a little harder. Hoping for 9's.
