Not the best way to start the day.....
Things that you want to avoid on the way to work in the morning:
1. Hitting a group of puppies wandering in the road with your car
2. Blowing 3 qts of oil all over your headers/engine/underside from your pressurized supercharger oil line
3. Catching your car on fire
I have done all 3 - unfortunately I did #2 and #3 today.
The funniest part was this lady that came running out of her car yelling at me that my car was on fire - I appreciated her energy and enthusiasm.......
Fortunately, the fire was not really bad. The oil cooked all over my new headers and burned 1 vacuum line. The clean up was a mess.
TOTALLY my fault - i put a new engine and new headers in my car, (replaced a pair of shorties - now the header tubes ran right next to the oil line) - ran my old oil line with normal temp hose on it - cooked the line - blew after 2000 miles.
I was going to take the car on a 300 mile road trip this weekend - MAN am I glad I decided to take my truck.
Spent 3hrs on it tonight - made some super hose with high pressure fuel line hose and thermo wrap - cleaned up - back on the road. No apparent permanent damage. That sucker will not blow again.
Alternate titles for this thread.
-Dumb A$$ things I have done that you should avoid (although this thread would have to be a LOT longer)
-How to ruin the finish on a new set of ceramic coated headers
-Why I think my car is plotting to drive me crazy......

I kinda feel your pain b/c I hit a huge plastic bag and it coated the entire pass side collector and about 1 more ft of the pipe. That **** aint going anywhere, plus it smells funny when you get out of the car, reminds me of the wax figures at the zoo. Are you serious about the puppies, you are going to hell for that j/k
