What kind of trans for 800hp dd?
So i was out cruising last night running 10psi and ran it up to to 6000 in top gear when pop!!! I thought I finally blew my stock short block w/112k on it so i threw the shifter into neutral and was like f*** i did it now, but i checked all the gauges and when nothing was wrong i gave it a rev and it was fine. So i put it back in drive and proceed on hearing the exhaust leaking like crazy. Stopped at a nearby gas station and looked underneath. Turns out my y-pipe came off the driver side header!
After that I call it a night and head back home. Well I was taking it easy on the highway with no probs, turned off the exit and continued home when I realized I could not get past 60mph. The revs went up but no speed was gained. Thats when I knew the trans was done. The same thing happend with my second trans so I knew the 3-4 clutch pak was fried again.
This is my third transmission. The first was went at 78k, so I had it rebuilt-lasted 5k and burned out the 3-4 clutches with just cam and exhaust and the trans shop would not warrenty it since I was several states away.
I then proceeded to have a different trans guy rebuild that one. He upgraded it pretty good to a level 4 along with a yank stall convertor and said it should hadle 500hp no problem. It lasted a good 12k miles, but I since added a turbo and now that i am pushing 10psi it just could not hold the new power. I think with the bigger turbo and more boost I am now pushing 600hp. I do beat on it all the time though, so I feel like it did its job well all things considered.
So my question is should I get a level 5 4l60e or 65e, a 4l80e, a turbo 400, or go m6? Also what brand and things are involved with what u recommmend?
I plan on making upwards of 800-900hp daily driven. I am tired of replacing transmissions over and over and want this next one to last at least 50k.

You can build a reliable 4L60E to handle it if you find a good builder. There are several 60E's around here behind some powerful cars, one in particular, running consistent 9's and was on the car for 2 years before he changed his whole setup.
Mine is going to go sometime, and when it does, I'm going to get with my builder and get the same build as the guy mentioned above.

For 800-900RWHP and DD go for a built 4L80E. You won't regret it. There are some people in this forum who did the 4L80E conversion. Search around. 4L60/65E will not handle that level of power.

want an 80e but there is lots to get it to wrk. The problem is I have no funds right now Dont know if I will be able to come up with enough for a 80e conversion versus a level 5 60e? It is my only means of transportation so right now I am screwed big time.

a friend and I did a 4L80 conversion on my old Camaro. Wasn't bad at all. You don't really need a built up one at this point. Stock 80 is good for 650 tq stock. You can do a 80 from a salvage yard and get one for about 700.00. I have a Yank cross member for one I could sell you. I think I had about 3000.00 in my 80 with PYE 3400, cross member, wiring harness, B&M cooler and lines, Rossler Tbrake & moroso pan.
