Default Okay I made a decision, now just a question or two.

Well I decided to do a rear mount budget build over a 150wet kit.

I just have a couple of questions.

my mods now are LT's,no cats, magnaflow catback, torquer v2 cam. LPE cai. dynotune, that's it.
but I want to keep the LT's, so I decided to do a rear mount.

I was thinking on a set of smaller twins. over a bigger single.

I could pick up a set of skittle turbo's/td04 turbo's. for a good price.

would a set of them be too small for my goat?

I would be running a intercooler also.
I was just thinking that w/the smaller turbo's they would spool up quicker. and the cam would kinda take over in the upper rpm's.

"thinking of a great 1/4 mi. car, and street car".

or should I just dump the twin idea and do a big .76 single?

but Im trying to keep it a budget still...
any idea's I would really appreciate it.

This is the only thing to make any sence to me in that post sorry .

Your really going to want to ditch the headers for manfolds and the cam for something more boost friendly . You could save a buch of money doing that and you will see much better results

TD04's are way to small, at the minimum you are going to need TD05's or 20g's. twin 57 trims would be your best bet out back

If your doing a rear mount you probably wanna use stock manifolds. If I were in your shoes I would do what NineBall did. Put a APS kit on with some injectors and a pump. Thats it, he makes over 500+ rwhp on like 8lbs.

Well crap, that's one reason why I was leaning towards rear mount. so I could run the LT's.

I do need to do some more research on turbo's anyway. I thought I seen a book about turbosystems and layout's at oreilly's I'll have to pick it up.

Stock manifolds are better for a rear mount, I wouldn't let a set of headers be the deciding factor over an APS kit and a home made sts style.

Yeah your right, I could always sell the headers/midpipes.
recoup some of the turbo money.

just curious why LT's are not really that great for a rear mount setup?

They don't hold in the heat as well, you would have more lag. That is why people use them and wrap the exhaust to hold in as much heat.

Search for threads by Zombie and longrange4u for rear-mount tips and tricks.

Also look at loboost's sticky in the FI section of LS2GTO

You can run LT's, but they will dissipate more heat due to the increased surface area, which adds to the "lag" time. Coated LT's will do better, ut still not as good as stock manifolds.

On the flip side, I ran my STS for 2.5 years w/ coated DynaTech LT's + pro-flow stainless cats and had no real lag problems. I also wrapped the exhaust from the y-pipe back. The latter made a big difference over unwrapped.

Do a larger single, much less of a headache than twins. AR in the 1.0 range.

I still use headers, but they are coated. I just wrapped the exhaust up from the y back and also painted the downpipe with high temp paint that u are supposed to use to seal the wrap. I am also trying out the .81 over the .96 housing I had before, I just have an issue with the driver side band clamp, damn y keeps coming off!!! Really need a flang style or something? Anyways a little lag helps me hook.
