Default Injector plastic ring

When you have your injector out there is a plastic ring just under the o-ring. What is it's purpose? One of mine is cracked and missing a very small piece of that plastic ring. Just wondering if I really have to spend $90 on one injector because of that. Thanks.

Get one for a 04 mustang. Same part, just much cheaper. You can get a set at advance for like $20

I have the same thing. I reinstalled mine and watched it really close for a couple of days and I had no leakage.

I am not saying to do the same thing, cuz I do not want to be responsible for a fire.
All I can tell the bottom plastic piece does is locate the O-ring. The o-ring itself seals to the top plastic piece to keep fuel from leaking out.

Just my $.02

Good luck.

Cool, I'll probrably pin line the crack with some JB on the top side and put it back for now. I'll look for one later. I'm in a hurry replacing the heads on my daily driver and not miss out on work.

LOL... ryarbrough.. I had to look at the link before I knew what the hell you were talking about. I though you were saying I could buy 8 injectors that cheap that would work. I was confused for a minute.

Thanks for the help everyone.

The cracked one isn't going to leak anything, and I have to put my motor back together now to go back and forth to work with. I had a push rod malfunction and had to change heads.
