I can only find a pic of a 99+ car. 98s are in the exact same spot but almost all the way to the front of the car, not the rear like the pic. This is the only pic I have of my 98 but it has the cover plate on it, you can see how much you have to cut towards the front (the flashlight is towards the rear of the car), its the same width as the 99+ pic but the cover is wider in my pic so there is a place to put screws. The 'ribs' are right on top of the tank so be very carefull when cutting..
One day the search will work again Maybe someone else has a 98 pic with the cover off.

I did one on a 98 convertible, had to make the hatch larger than usual though. I found that two of the quick disconnects were close to the top of the sending unit while the third was further back where it 'L' s around, making me cut out more than anticipated. Took alot of welding work to set up the hatch door, resembles an L shape. My 2002 HT was easy, small cut out, all disconnects near sending unit, and I found a marine/boat compartment hatch made of diamond plate that I welded in and painted to match, looks good, should have seen the masking for the paint though, You would have laughed your *** off.

Have now brought a Walbro 255lb, will install that tommorow, I'll take some photos so you can see the trap door, also will try to do a step by step install as others may find it useful.

We all want to have a small hole and keep it tidy, but even if you do a larger hole and plate it over you can still make it look very neat, and its under the carpet too. I put some sponge under the plate for sound proofing, it works very well.
