Default 60# injectors

When do 60# injectors die horsepower wise? Generally speaking of coarse.

Here's the formula to use.

fuel requirement lb/hr = (HP * BSFC) / (num injectors * duty cycle)

Use BSFC = .5 for NA, .6 for forced induction
Use 80% (.8) for duty cycle.

To solve for hp re-arrange the equation to:

hp = (lb/hr * num cyl * duty cycle)/(BSFC)

Forced induction = 640 hp
NA = 768 hp

Someone check my math

Depends on the tune and the fuel system behind them. I have seen over 850rwhp with 60# injectors.

They'll go higher, but not at 80% duty cycle.

They'll do over the 640hp-FI you listed at under 80%...

MIGHTYMOUSE made over 850RWHP with 60s and meth.

I have had my setup up to 18.5psi on good gas and meth, and that HAS to be in the 700s rwhp-wise and mine had room to go.

Thanks guys, I was planning on running a D1sc with the intent on maxing it out down the road. I was also mulling over the whole E-85 idea as well. I know you need a bigger fuel system as the E-85 requires more fuel. I'll probably end up with a dual racetronix set up from Nasty so I know the pump will be plenty goood. Would my 60# Motrons hold up to 700rwhp with E-85???

and this was using a hi flow return fuel system with a rising rate 1:1
regulator?

I don't know what his base pressure was but was likely in the 60s somewhere.

From the attached spreadsheet.
Find Max HP of Injector
Fuel Injector LB/HR 60
Number of Cylinders 8
Duty Cycle Desired 80%
BSFC (.5 for NA, .6 for FI) 0.6

HP of Injector 640

Meth changes the equation, and a RRFPR helps.
Theory (math) and reality don't always mesh. I'm sure they are being used in much higher HP applications. This equation is a good place to start. If you can get more out of them, nothing wrong with that.

Wait, my bad.
Aren't they rated at 3 bar?
In that case, they are more like 70 lb/hr at our rail pressure. Much more horsepower.

Okay, so it looks like 60# injectors should hold up to an 700 rwhp motor which is where I want to be for now. But the new question is can they hold that kind of power level with E85?

Use BSFC = .80 for NA, .90 for forced induction when using E-85
This will be a good starting point as you will need much more fuel for an E-85 tune.
My former carb setup wanted 30% more fuel at light throttle, and 45% more at WOT!
