Just curious, we just picked one up for my 67, I know they are a lot tougher.

Not sure you can get it to work without a lot of fabing. My wife and I run in the mid 10's with her 2nd gen Camaro and my 1st gen Firebird and have the 8.5 10 bolts.

The biggest thing like said is having similar mounting points, especially when it comes to a TQ arm. It has been a while for me so I forget if the 8.5's have the Dog Bones on top....

**Edit**
I found this and I see the mounting points on top, so again, I see some fab work ahead of you.

Your right-a 1st and 2nd gen had leaf springs. But carefull tho-some 1st gens came with a weak 7.5- 8.2 rear. the axle width is wider on the 2nd too isnt it?

There plenty tough. They had to be though coming from the muscle car era.

I have only heard of the 8.2 in the first gens. Ive never seen a 7.5 in a first gen. Even the 68 6 cylinder we had, it came with a 8.2

I am pretty sure the 1st gen only had a 8.2. I actually got my 8.5 out of a 73 Olds Cutlass just b/c it had press on axle bearings. I cut it up and welded on leaf spring pads. Then I cut 5" out of each axle when I narrowed it and the frame. Still has the factory style press on bearings, no leaky c-clip eliminators. Of Course, I know how to get them not to leak.

Your right-I had a 8.2 under an Omega. I had to think about it. Set it up like the GNx was. Still alot of fabrication.

I just wonder how good one of those would hold up to lets say mid 400 hp, and automatic. We got this one complete for 75.00 and it was the right width. If you could pick it up for 75.00 and then just have all the fabrication done, it would still have to be a heck of a lot cheaper then, 12 bolt or 9"

Fabrication would probably make up the difference between a 12 bolt ready to bolt in and the cost of the fab job.

If people are looking to do fab work, build a Ford 8.8

This one looks like a 8.2. I thought 8.5 cover was more round.
