Default Rearend noise while turning??

Had an issue at the track last weekend and sounded like something popped off the line. I was able to back up off the track (slowly) and drive it on the trailer. But noticed a noise while turning. It almost sounds like a popping noise or something loose in rearend?

Any idea?? I'm gonna try to look at it this week but not sure what i'm looking at.

Thanks!

Spider gears. I tore a 10 bolt torsen up and it started by popping while turning and eventually just grinded to its death all the time.

What year is the car? The Torsen diff dosen't have actual spider gears in it like the Auburn does. But yes it does sound like you tore up the differential. I had an Auburn in my car because the previous owner had to replace the entire rearend and used one from an LT1 car. I ended up ripping four teeth out of that Auburn diff and went back to a Torsen when I rebuilt it.

Also correct me if I'm wrong but the Auburn can be rebuilt and the Torsen can't?

Yeah gears in your posi, my car had a true trac in it when I got it, I believe somebody got the best out of it before me! It started poping around corners, there were teeth missing on the helical gears in it! I juss picked up a new rearend for $200 lol!

Just did the same thing to mine due to 28" slicks. Everyone wanted $200 for a unit. I found a stock replacement 10 bolt for $150 so I went that route.
