Default to mush gear???

stock tire 275-40-17
3.73 ?
ran 121.5 with 125 shot and 3.42s
Will 3.73 be to much gear with a 150 shot and stock internals????

no they won't. i spray 4.11's on a head and camed car and only cross the traps at 6,300-6,400 in 4th gear on a 26'' slick. the 3.73's will be fine, been there done it. goodluck to ya.

You ran an 11.8 with a 125 shot and 3.42's? Something does not seem right...

Seems like you should going faster is all... Those about my same time I had with minimal bolt-on's BUT 2.73 gears. I guess maybe the rubber is the issue. I was cutting 1.8's on DR's (I think it was some time ago)

on a 1.9 60' that is about right. I was running 11.4 on a 125 shot,3.42s and cam with minimal bolt-ons with a 1.6x 60'.

As for your question, i think you'd be fine with 3.73s but from what ive read, you wont see much of a difference from 3.42s

i was wondering if 4.10 was too much gear for my 01 m6.people have told me to stay with 3.73, because 4.10 were too much gear.i have 400+ rwhp.i was wondering what i should do.i have nitto dr 315 on rear.people have told me that 4.10 are better at the track and not in the streets.they said that i will go through the gears too fast with 4.10 and 3.73 will let stay in my power band longer. what do i do?ilso have h/c from mti (x1 cam .591 lift 230 duration)

Mike C. What size tire? I have seen LOTS of people run out of gear with 4.11's as you do not go to 5th gear at the track... Right?

Stay with 3.73's unless you worried about 100's... as I do not think you would full 10th of a second off your time.

BUY some DR's! a 1.9x short time is pitiful and for every .1 you pull off there you get almost -.2 at the end of the 1/4 mile.

i run a 26x11.5x16 m&h racemaster cheeter slick(like a et street but hooks way better)i don't even come close to running out of gear. NOW-my rev is set at 6,800,i shift at 6,500 and cross the traps at 5,900rpm's in 4th gear. the 3.73 was a nice gear,i did like it alot, but the 4.11 has done better for me. DEBAIN DOG-says you will not gain a tenth, but he also says every .1 you pull off the 60's you gain near .2 in the 4th right? well as i said my 60's droped from 1.79 to a 1.61 with no other changes but a 4.11 gear swap, you do the math. i now pull 1.5 60's with nothing but a tire swap.m&h racemasters www.intercotire.com it's also funny he has an a4 but trying to tell you what gear is better for a stick. it's the same as people saying m/t tires are the best, but they never tried m&h,hoosier or goodyear's remember i had 3.42's,3.73's and 4.11's i've been there and i'm now going to try 4.30's. goodluck to ya.

You would only run out of gear if you're using the stock rev limiter (6200 rpms) and are running traps over 112 mph. If you're running a heads/cam car you should have a rev limit of at least 6600+, so you wouldn't run out of gear.

My rev limit on my cam only car is set at 6900 rpms and I shift at 6700-6800 rpms, and I'm only crossing the traps at around 6000 rpms in 4th gear. I'll be switching to 4.30s because 4.11s aren't quite enough gear anymore it seems...
