mac rear cover vs t/a rear cover
is there really a difference and do either of them really help? i have a chance to get either, and it looks like the mac is 129 with studs, and the t/a girdle is 154 + 24$ for the stud kit... so that is a big difference in price to me anyways, they look the same though. any feedback would be good.
just trying to strengthen the stock rear a lil, i have an auto so i think with a cover it will hold for a while.

My T/a cover didn't come with a magnet like the stock cover has. I don't know about the Mac. I have an M6 and I can say that the rear has been hurt. I doubt the cover could have done much anyway since cap movement most likely has nothing to do with whats wrong. My $.02 with 2 cents change.

The T/A, MAC, and G2 covers will all do the same job. If you look at shots of them, you'll see that all three are almost identical stucture-wise. Don't blow more than you have to...

with a stock rear end, minus an eaton differntial, i only tried launching at 4000 1 time on a well preped track (m6 btw) on bfg's and it shearded my drivers side axle and exploded the eaton diff into 1000's of pieces, since then, i put on the ta cover from thunder racing with the stud kit, and decided to launch at 3600, it held, i bogged, i tried 3800, it bogged, then i tried 4000 rpm launch, and it did pretty good, 1.75 60' then i got even braver and launched at 4200 and pulled a 1.69 60'! i have to say, im either very very lucky, or that ta girdle really really works!

I have the MAC girdle. The casting appears stout. I was not
impressed with the quality of the tapped holes (drain plugs,
preload studs) - very rough and have to be careful not to
cross-thread. But it doesn't leak, and lets you change the
juice when you should, and I figure if you're investing in the
10-bolt's guts you might as well cap it off solid.

Curious, do any of the aftermarket covers have the magnet installed? My T/A didn't. When I took the stock cover off it had a very fine coating of metal powder stuck to it. When I realized the cover I was putting on didn't have the magnet, I actually thought twice before I bolted 'er up. Does any one know of there's an easy way retro fit a magnet to the inside of a T/a? I thought about drilling and tapping-then putting in a magnet that I had threaded the outside with using a die, but.... o well.
