goodbye stock driveshaft!
saturday went racing. 4rd run, and I was making my last run of the day and wanted to make a nice launch. I launches somewhere around 4000-4500 rpms dropping the clutch, I don’t know what I was thinking seeing I was on nittos and not an greatly prepped track, hooking was something that probably wouldn’t have happened. And boom, all I heard was the DS bouncing in the loop (thank god for it). I think I am going to go with a denny's nitrous driveshaft. I thought the stock driveshafts were a little more stronger than that, I mean I planned to get a new one sooner or later but ive made about 12 track passes on it.

aluminum ds, and yes its on video my friend is going to host it on tonite so we can see. it scratched up my TA a little (as u can see by the red on the DS). I didn't get to get a good look put i believe everything else is fine. And luckily I just put the DS loop on about a month ago. I think no matter what you are racing, as long as your racing you should have one, it probably saved my life. you never know when these things can give out on you

Hey, welcome to the driveshaft splitting club! Same thing happened to my stock aluminum one, except I didn't have a safety loop... It just scratched a bit of the floorboard, but nothing extensive. I even got mine on video too! I now have a gm steel one and haven't had any problems. It's pretty damn scary when you hear a piece of metal revolving at high speeds slashing stuff under your car.

I guess this is why theguy that balanced and installed my 1350 u joints told me that the stock u joint were probably good enough, that the aluminum drive shaft would probably break before them. HE said the 1350's should definatley be stronger than the shaft.
I wonder if its better to get a built steel D/S for the strip and keep the aluminum for street? Maybe it would be a pita to change out though

my bad, i meant the ds loop could have saved my life.
I am ordering a Dennys nitrous ready driveshaft today. For 400 bones, I'd say if you were racing get one. I would much have rather bought one and saved the headache than go through this. When the ds broke, it scratched up the torque arm prettty bad.
