Something broke at the track and I'm not sure what. Help!!!
So I was at the track today, and it was the first time since I got my new ls7 clutch. I put about 700 miles on it before the track... so it was broken in well. So I made a few passes and it was so cold I couldn't get any traction... it was like 40 degrees... I was only running 8.0's @ 93.
I do my burn-out and before we go, they realized someone left something on the track... it took them 3 minutes to clear it, so I was like well hell, I'm going to heat my tires back up... so I reved up, dumped and as soon as I dumped I hear a bang...
The car goes into gear fine, but won't move anywhere? Did I break my rear?

I really hope it's the rear instead of the clutch... because I just replaced the clutch. If it were the clutch, I'd just be fixing broken ****.... you know? If it's the rear, I'm making the car faster so I don't mind spending money.

clutch wouldn't make a bang unless it disintegrated or actually twisted the disc off of the center, and then you'd hear little pieces rattling around in the tranny. Easy way to check to be sure is to lift the rear of the car and spin the tires by hand, checking for anything goofy happening.

If I were you, I would have said, " i hope its the clutch just slipping from not being broke in:" because what you'll soon find out is that the rear axle units are expensive to work on and replace with tougher, more costly components. Either way, I hope it's a simple and non-costly fix for you.
Sounds like maybe you broke the output shaft, those are usually the first to go.
