Default about to order a 9"...what gear

I know this get asked and its probably annoying. but I can't use search from my phone for some reason.

anyway I going to order a 9inch in about 2 weeks. I'm trying to plan for the future and not waste to much money. my plans for the end of the year are forged 347 and a D1SC. My goal is 650 rwhp, I don't know what it will run in the 1/4. But a big concern is running out of motor because of having to low of a gear. in the mean time between now and then I will be spraying. as soon a HSW releases there plate system. I'm going to covert to a wet shot and up it to 125. I hoping for a very high 10 out of this. but I don't know what my trap will be. I'm guessing around 125mph.I just don't want to have to shift into 5th at the line. I was thinking 3.73s. what do yall thank.

whether you keep the m6 or go a4, or th350/400 you want to cross the traps at the 1:1 ratio be it 4th in m6 or 3rd in the auto's, I dont know if your open to a tire increase such as a 28" tall tire

Run the gear calulator, you going to be looking at prob a 6800 rpm red line, and a 28" tall tire to handle power, I think if you do this you can still be in the 4.10 range, if you dont want to change tires, look at 3.73.

as of now I'm keeping the six speed. there just to much fun to drive. I didn't think of 28" slicks, I may need them if I reach my hp goal. what gear do they have between 4.10s and 3.73s

The 3:89 gear is a good comprimise. As the power goes up, you may need 3:73 gears though. The gear calc is a good way to figure on what you're going to need. Bob

the calc shows 3.90s at 135 is 7k.....3.73 at 135 is 6600....I guess 3.73 is the way to go.......is 4TH 1:1 and 5th .74:1?

The 3.89's are gonna be perfect for your current setup. My LT1 is very similar, and goes through the traps at 6600 in 4th.

I'm thinking 3.89 for now....and if needed a gear swap later to 3.73 or lower
