Because from what I have heard they are unpredictable. They can cause the car to kickout sideways when it enguages

The Locker is not available for the 12 bolt. The Truetrac is what I would recommend if you are going with a 12 bolt. If your car is a six speed, I'd recommend the Moser 9 inch, shown here. http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com....html?item=145
It is a direct replacement for your 10 bolt. Bob

yea the only reason im not going 9" is the ABS issue. plus im not gonna be pushing out anything over 330hp (ish).

the only thing i dont like about true trac is the fact that both wheels dont spin constantly no matter what like posi. even on light throttle (or do they?)

I have a true-trac in my 81 camaro and it works really well. It seems like they both spin evenly, lays nice straight black marks through 3rd gear. Cant tell that its there during normal driving.

(1) Uhm... yes it is. In fact there are three available. All of which are a three series... a 30 spline, a 33 spline and a 35 spline, which would require 3.25" Bore housing (e.g... a tube change).

But...

(2) I completely agree with the recommendation for a True Trac.

In a light weight, short wheel base passenger cars... it is a handful to drive. If you read the online owners manual ( http://www.eatonperformance.com/PDFs...r%20Manual.pdf ) there are many references to wheel base and how it can induce instability in street driving. It also includes a section on driving characteristics which should steer you away from it as well.

Now dont get me wrong, a locker has its place. I drive one everyday... but in it intended application and because of the years of driving lockers in street driven vehicles... it isnt a big deal to me. But I can tell you that a NoSpin/Detroit in a passenger car, be it a 12 bolt or a 9"... isnt for the meek. There is a definate driving style change and finesse' factor that you will have too adhere to.

Bottom line... it would be in your best interest... to loose interest in a NoSpin/Detroit Locker for any non track use. A True Trac is a much better device, all around, for anything driven on the street.

My friend has a locker in his 9 inch. It makes a lot of noise, mostly a loud clicking when going around turns and such. I don't think it's that bad, but I also don't drive it everyday. I still plan on getting one for mine.

I have a daily driver locker, I am happy with it. Its probably not as good as a posi would be for street manners(tight turns) but I wouldnt want to throw it in the woods thats for sure....
About the kickouts to the side, it does it slightly under avg. acel. Never has done it when i was WOT.

i've had mine on for at least 10-12k miles a few weeks ago i just noticed the clicking or racthing sound people talk about other than that i drive my car sun or shine with mickey thompson's and skinnies in the rain with dr its a little hairy when its wet but can be done.i went with the locker because its stronger than the true trac but i wish i would have gone with the spool because my locker will have to be replaced in the future when i get a bigger motor i heard so much bad stuff about the spool and true trac would not hold enough power but either way i'm happy with mine

I have an H series locker in my moser 9. It clicks around the turns, I get alot of "your car is knocking" from ******* morons. I drive it everyday with a stalled auto, no problems yet. If you can deal with the clicking on the corners then get one. Thats why I think alot of people dont have them.

I just cant imagine having a spool in a street car......
Why would your locker have to be replaced witha bigger motor? You going to make 1500+hp?
