If it is stock it will be a g 7.625 10 Bolt diff. If the shop does not know that I might be looking for someone else to buy parts from.

I think what they wanted to know is if you had a 2 or a 3 series Carrier.

Your gear ratio will dictate which carrier you have, whether it is a 2 or 3 series. What is your gear ratio?

If you REALLY want to know what your gear ratio is there are a few ways to do it. I have a 97 Z28 Camaro and I have 3.42 gears in mine. if you look on the drivers door, just under the lock mechanism where it holds the dor shut, there will be some stickers there. One will have a shitload of number and letter combinations on it. something along the lines of AG1 AK5 AR9 AU0, etc. and its all in alphabetical order. Go to the 3 letter combo's that start with the letter G. There will probably only be one or 2 of the G's there. Mine was a GU6 which means I have 3.42 gears.

The only options are:

GU2- 2.73 Gear Ratio
GU4- 3.08 Gear Ratio
GU5- 3.23 Gear Ratio
GU6- 3.42 Gear Ratio

That will tell you what you have so you can tell the guys working on the car. Any other codes you need to know go to http://www.fbodymotorsports.com/9302rpocodes.

So now that you know what ratio you have are you changing ratios or just replacing stock? Let me know, we can help you out.
