Default MT 2016 COTY - 6th Gen Camaro

http://www.motortrend.com/news/2016-...r-of-the-year/

Here’s one where the new Camaro might actually transcend the criteria. Is this the best production ponycar the world has ever seen? Without hesitation, yes. What was interesting to me is that we judge types weren’t talking about the Camaro in relation to the Mustang GT that we brought along as a benchmark. We were talking about future Camaro comparison tests against BMWs, Audis, and AMGs. I’d even throw Porsche into that mix. MacKenzie sums up our feelings: “A revelation. Absolutely world-class sports car performance and dynamics from an American icon. The new Camaro is one of the finest driver’s cars in the world. And that’s before you even talk about the price.” It’s also absolutely bitchin’, and it’s the 2016 Motor Trend Car of the Year.

0.7 seconds in the 1/4 faster for 3-4K doesn't sound like a bad deal to me. It's not like it's even close at 1 or 2 tenths.

The real story of sales numbers will come with the 4 and 6 cylinder cars and how equally they are priced.

yup, just like those sorry SOHC 4.6s. but if i remember correctly you could get an ls1 fbody for a similar price so i apologize for my bad memory lol.

but i am curious what sales will be. im thinking early theyll be flying off dealers. from there its hard to say. ford really priced the mustang lower so im thinking a 6th gen will be solid but sales will be lower.

At that massive of a gap in the quarter, it makes me wonder how badly the 2016 will thrash the Mustang around the track.

I stick by my theory that the 2016 Camaro SS with the magnetic suspension will be on-par with the GT350.

Given the handling performance numbers already tested, I would lean to believe the above statement. It may suffer a slight HP disadvantage, but the chassis is proving to be very good early on.

Smile

im going to predict this generation of camaro is going to dominate ford in every category. now of course i expect ford to respond but based on what im seeing early from a 6th gen the gap is only going to get wider.

this is far from wishful thinking. this just looks like an *** kicking from start to finish.

in the end this cost gap might be more than justifiable.

I've always said, its easy to add power. But engineering a great chassis is much more difficult. GM knocked it out of the park with the Alpha. I'm proud to have been a part of its development.
