Default lq# vs ls# weight and other questions

like the title says i am wondering how much the lq4/9 motor out weight the lsX based motors. i know the blocks out weight the ls1's by about 90-100lbs. just curious if any one knows when say the lq is dressed with camaro accessory's. i am asking since trying to decide if going that route would be worth the added weight. the car i'd go into is a miata.

other questions where in regards to mounting one of these truck motors and what's all needed to mount them to a t56.(cause assuming they have the same mounts as the ls1 motors?)

The lq blocks weigh in at 110 lbs more than the aluminum counterparts. Dressed out the same, the weight difference would be the same. My ls1 on a shipping scale weighed in a 464 lbs, so I would imagine the lq would weigh in a 575 lbs roughly. This was without accessories or flywheel. In full dress ready to install, I'd say the lq would be about 650 or so compared to 540 ish for the ls.

The t-56 will have no problem bolting up to the iron block, but what exactly are you planning to do with the car?

the "car" in question is a miata. i am just after making a all around fun car. since i don't think a trans am(what i would buy if i bought a lsX car) would be able to give me the handling i am after(i know it'll give me all the speed i want )

for handling i want i am not saying it has to be full blown race car, just more fun in the twistes then my current car is(caliber srt4 on lowering springs) but doesn't have to be as good as my old miata.

If you want handling go with the aluminum block.

We have seen weights anywhere between 75ish and 115ish.. I would say that it will vary slightly depending on what block.
