stuck, opinions needed...
I've been thinking about this for a while and i finalized some of my choices to 4 cars. ill lay out my thoughts and then hopefully you guys can put some great thoughts out there to help me decide. I want a 4 door car with a ls motor, thats for sure. so read ahead
04-07 cts-v: its the cheapest but oldest its kind of funny looking but lots of potential for power
08-09 g8 gt/gxp: a little newer, can find them with less miles, less wear and tear and easier to get a lien for. potential for power
09-12 cts-v: The heaviest but comes with a SC out of the box. the wagon is bad *** but i wont be able to buy new or mod after buying.
2014 SS: I can get one brand new (who doesnt want a new car) ill know the history and wont possibly inherit someone else's abuse but again wont be able to mod for awhile...
thanks for the help guys!

If you haven't heard either a newer CTS-V (LSA) powered or g8 GT (L76)/GXP(LS3) with kooks headers and catback with corsa exhaust I would bet it will influence your choice Also a big factor to look into is what is your preference for tranny. I searched for over a year to find a t-56 F body car because why own a fast car with an auto? Just food for thought

Got to agree. The new Chevy SS doesn't come with a manual transmission. But I believe the rest can be found. G8 only the GXP model could have it if I remember correctly.

Id stay away from 04-07 ctsv, I dont thing they are very roomy on the inside and if you find them kind of funny looking, then id look for something that has a little better looks. Personally I'd love to have a G8, they have plenty of power and can fit 4 adults comfortably if need be. Ive honestly considered selling my TA to get one. On the other hand though, Itd be nice to have a new car you don't have to mess with until you wanted to.

Between 2008 and 2009 Pontiac produced 1829 GXP's with auto's having the 6L80-E and manual's having Tremec TR6060 trannies. Build Numbers were 983 auto's and 841 manual equipped. I know this doesn't add up to 1829, and all g8 websites ive seen publish those numbers.

I just picked up an 05 CTS-V a couple weeks ago, I love it so far. My only gripe is the shitty DVD/NAV player doesnt work, but I can live without it and I'll probably ditch the stock head unit eventually anyway.
I think visually all this car is missing is a mild ducktail spoiler, black or aftermarket wheels, and lower suspension. And for the price you cant beat it in my opinion.

this is good stuff, keep it coming guys. I am torn between rowing gears but seeing an auto drop times in the quarter after a stall and it being easier on the driveline are definate plus' in my book.

It all depends on what your main use for the car will be. If it is mostly a track car i'd look into the auto but on the street, nothing is more fun then banging gears. Also another option with the G8 GT/GXP is you could swap on a LSA blower with other supporting mods, fuel pump, injectors...etc since both L76/LS3 heads are square port.

nah no blower for me. it will be a procharger if anything. still undecided though due to the lack of input. i agree with banging gears but the wife doesnt like to drive stick and she will drive it from time to time. I still might just test drive the SS, still considering the g8gt, but the cts-v wagon is just so sexy....

Just throwing a bit of a wild card in, but the government issue 2006+ Caprice PPV can be had for around 20k with under 5k on the dash and they're essentially a Chevy G8. They're cheap considering the miles and age, but very unique. They're all over Autotrader. Some are more Spartan, but there were some sold with street appearance packages so they came with nicer trim, wheels and interior. Regardless, these things are bargains.
