Default Car wont start, any help?

car has been sitting for around 2-3 months, the ac delco battery was dead and a few years old, replaced it with new battery and car still wont start, wont crank, nothing, dead silent. checked some of the fuses and look ok to me. not sure what to look for if they were bad though. its a 2001 trans am. anything else i should be looking at?

thanks for any help.

clean the vat device in your key. Or, check battery cables for corrosion. Could be that it was sitting for so long the cables corroded.

sorry, I thought it said 2-3 years. Cables shouldn't be corroded that soon. Start with the vats.

Check your relays, the big grey box looking things in your fuse box. Start swapping them around.

You might have accidentally blown the starter relay when the battery went dead.

Have you checked for power at the starter when you turn the key to start? If you don't have power there I would check the neutral safety switch or clutch safety switch (if manual trans). If you don't have power to those you could have an issue with your ignition switch.

Does the security light come on? If so its a problem with the VATS and you can just bypass it to get it to start

Haha that was gonna be my next guess because it happened to me before. Always put moth ***** around the car and in the engine bay if it is going to sit. It will keep the critters away. Mine only sat for 2.5 weeks and it was in a garage and I had wires chewed up. That can be a very big headache for you unfortunately. Best of luck.

the big one that comes from the driver headlight and runs along the driver fender to the back of the motor is the AIR tube. it looks like it was removed. in that case you should have block off plates on your exhaust. the one on your passenger side connects to your intake manifold, right below and slightly to the left( I can see where it connects upper right hand corner behind the TB cable but in front of the coolent line)

looking at the picture
