Default throwing codes..need some advice

well my car decided to bug out on me yesterday. i was driving home and the car stuttered while driving and the check engine light came on.

other than that i found that since the light has been on it takes 2 hands to push my shifter to the right in order to get it in reverse. so i went to autozone and got him to tell me what codes are being thrown and it came back with 2.

1. skip shift solenoid control circuit.
probable causes: failed skip shift solenoid
open or short circuit condition
not sure if this could cause the reverse b/c i was convinced it was the reverse lockout solenoid before i went to autozone.

2. MAP/BARO or MAF/VAF sensor condition
probable causes: vacuum hose off or cracked
throttle body intake tube loose or off
engine mechanical timing condition
MAP/BARO defective
MAF/VAF defective or dirty

i know this is long but thanks for reading. what do you guys think?

Hmm I have an auto so I can't really help you with the skip shift code.

The other one is odd. I didn't think there were overlapping MAP or MAF codes for our car. He didn't happen to give you the actual code P numbers did he?

Does it still idle funny? If so it might in fact have a vacuum leak, and you would probably need to check out the MAP sensor and perhaps the vacuum hose running around.

Next time you go don't worry about the description(s), just post the code(s). MAF and reverse lockout are on the same ciruit (with 02/s and skip shift). My guess is the ENG SEN fuse under the hood is blown - I'd check that first.

If the fuse is blown look for an 02 sensor harness arcing/melted against a LT.

fuse was blown. the 02 harness were tied up and tucked under the chasis from when the LT's were installed. replaced the fuse and the reverse issue was solved. the car seems to run ok afterwards but the check engine light is still on. i unhooked the battery to reset the codes and will see if it is still throwing codes after a while.

Glad you got it. Happened to a friend of mine a few years ago - took us a while to figure it out.
