Here are some instructions I used when I did mine. It's really not that bad of a job. Sometimes it helps to remove the pass seat to give yourself more work room.
remove glove box,
remove heater core cover,
remove the clamps for heater core both under dash and the one outside by the hoses,
remove heater core,
remove blend door and the actuating cable,
and bam you got yourself an evaporator! it sits in front of you, cut the evap case lip with a razor blade cleanly! its only the bottom lip cut about 4-5" long off, keep this piece so that you can epoxy/jb weld/rtv it back in place when reinstalling.
remove ac lines/expansion valve and the evap will slide out! the evap will take aprox 3-4 oz of 150 weight refrigerant oil before reinstalling the new evap i called the dealer and they couldnt tell weight or amount after finally finding a dealer who used alldata i was able to get the correct weight and amount. only took me an hour to get it out and about an 2 hours back in because of cure time of the epoxy.
reinstall all of ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ in reverse order.

Am I supposed to remove something from the front? I'm having a hard time taking the evap core out I don't want to break anything but if there isn't anything else in the way I'll start pulling.

I can't think of anything that would be holding it but your car is a different year than mine. I thought from your screen name you had an LT1-mine's a 1995. Then I noticed in the pic you didn't have an expansion valve lol. Are you replacing the receiver/dryer and orifice tube also?

I have a 99 SS. Do you have to take the dash off or was it basically the same steps that SilverSs07 listed for an LT car??
