I had a similar problem when I first bought my Z. Turned out to be the PCV letting oil get into the manifold. I put in an oil catch can and the problem went away for me. Hopefully your problem is as easy as mine was.

Ok thanks a lot I will have to look into the catch can thing. How exactly does that work? Where do you put the catch can in, and where did you get it from? Thanks

What about deleting the pcv system and running a breather in the oil fill cap spot? I have been reading and this seems like a good alternative So I would just cap the pcv lines and add the breather? Am I doin this right or you have other ideas?

don't delete the pcv or cap it you'll cause more problems

look in the forced induction part under blow by i explain things pretty well

if its not blue or white then its prolly black which means your running rich blue is oil and white is coolant

Well it is not black for sure. It is blue or white I cant tell. Kinda looks white. There are other threads about deleting and putting breather in without problems What would this do? Would it create problems?

yeah it'll create problems for the simple fact you don't have anything pulling the blow by gases out they just vent, and little blowby gets out that way.

noone likes gas mixing in with their oil

Well I read here that the PCV can let oil into intake which could then get burned which would cause the small puff of smoke out of my exhaust... Would that be accurate? or is there something worse wrong with my motor?

That is accurate and why I suggested a catch can. It will collect the oil before it gets sucked into your intake.

a friend of mine just recommended using two small clear fuel filters inline in the pcv system to "temporarily" and cheaply see how much oil is being sucked up...just a thought, i may be dealing with the same problem you are.

So would the catch can be better then the breather? Then I would have to clean out the catch can every now and then, and I read a few people saying it didnt work? How much was your catch can? Does it fit in there good? Thanks for the help.

Mine is an AMW. Nice can but I only paid 80 for mine 2 years ago. Now they are 160. There are cheaper cans. Do a search there have been 2-3 threads with some other can ideas. I think one was in the Appearance section. You only need to drain the can. Mine has a petcock on the bottom and is a snap to empty. It does work for me but I get very little oil in there once I switched to a thicker oil. Here is a pic of mine. I attached mine to the passenger side head.

the catch can catch's the oil that would other wise be sucked into the intake. you can make your own catch can for cheap, and yes occasionally you'd have to drain it.

also spy2520 i've done that with the same filters there for a carb, i used those on my first turbo setup and they got clogged in a matter of days

yeah it was kinda a recomendation to try and troubleshoot my smoke problem and see how much oil is really getting in their, nothing permanent.
