I would check/change
Air filter, fuel filter, pcv valve, spark plugs, dif fluid, tranny fluid (filter if auto), oil filter, and def. run seafoam some of that might seem excessive for 50 k but the way I think is that it cant hurt and if you take care of your car it will take care of you

Some people say never change the fluid on an auto tranny. That could be completely false though.

Yeah I've heard that too, and when I had my Auto truck everyone said not to change it... but it is a totally different story for my T-56.

Why is that?

Some people claim that you shouldnt on high millage tranny's b/c they say the old fluid and sludge in the tranny and filter help hold the seals together or something but its a bunch of BS. But I have heard that VW has some kinda new tranny out where its pretty much a sealed unit and your not suppost to touch it for 100k.

If you go to www.installuniversity.com and look at the install docs for 160 degree thermostat change. To drain is steps 1-4. Steps 12-17 explain how to refill your coolant system.
