Default A New Catback, Need Suggestions

Hey guys, I currently am running LT headers with an ORY without cats. I was thinking of getting the SLP LM II but wasn't too sure how loud and raspy it would be wihtout cats.

I know I can only get so much input without hearing it first hand but does anyone have any suggestions on a catback? I have the original catback that came on this hawk. No idea what it is I'm guessing a custom SLP one. But it is SOO quiet. I can bearly hear the car at idle and at WOT it sounds ok I've heard. But in the car it's still really quiet.

My past car was a 94z without cats and had long tubes with a cutout. That thing was loud but sounded great. I want to make some noise but not kill anyone you know?

lm1 would be really raspy.. i'm don't think lm2 would be raspy. i have lm2 with stock manifolds and stock y-pipe and there isn't any rasp at all. lm2 will be a lot louder than your stock catback, but won't be obnoxiously loud like some set-ups..

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm thinking of a corsa r the new slp powerflo catback. as for as the lm. I've only heard them with cats, and they was not that bad.

Stainless Gibson is $467

http://www.lmperformance.com/16645/1.html

Comes with 4 inch tips, which some may not like but I think it's one of the easier catbacks to have corsa clones put on as another option. Also louder than stock slp dual dual but not quite as loud as a loudmouth.

I got a SLP dual-dual catback. I just swapped the muffler out and put a Magnaflow in it's place, now it sounds louder, but not obnoxious, kinda' strange because Magnaflow is supposedly one of the quietest mufflers out there. Also, I got stock manifolds and stock Y-pipe, but that's going to change pretty soon.

Hmm, I was also thinking of Magnaflow. Found a sponser with some on sale. But I was told it isn't much louder than my stock exhaust. I will keep looking and thanks for the input.

I've never heard of gibson. How is it? 4 Inch seems pretty big but it's all relative.

I may end up getting LM II, that's what I've wanted. I know GMMG is awesome but they are pricey. Then again you get what you pay for.

Magnaflow sounds great in my opinion. When I was running stock manifolds and cats it was way too mild for me but after headers, it just roars!

Really? That's good to hear. Could you get a clip for me? I'm really almost considering just buying SLP cause I know it's loud. I just don't want another quiet one.

i say put a dynomax bullet p/n : 24219 on the end of the y and dump it at the axle! of course im bias though (check sig.)

but of the options you said my vote is LM2. i like loud and aggressive sound too so i know where your coming from.

The LM1 would be almost "impossible to bear with" loud if you go with an ory and headers. LM1 only is the best sounding cat-back only in my opinion. but ya, if ur gonna add hearders/ORY you need to go with 1.Magnaflow 2. GMMG 3. B&B Triflo . IMO

I'm running the borlamouth because the lm2 was super raspy and I might even change it out.

Well guys, I've decided on SLP LM II. I will let you know how it sounds and I will put up a vid once I'm done. Only reason I decided on this is because my friend said if I didn't like it or thought it was too loud, etc. he would buy it off me. So I have nothing to lose really besides time installing it.

I will post it up midweek next week.

Dude, I have a cutout and I modified a smaller opening plate for it and the rest passes thru my Slowmaster catback. I love it, it took a few times desiging a little plate for the tone I want, but it is now adjustable like a Borla system.

The Gibson is the best bang for the buck. Sounds good without being obnoxious.

Just wanted to to say that I got my package a day early. Thanks to SpeedInc. They provided great help through phone and email.

So anyways, the install took longer than I expected. I ended up cutting my exhaust pipe to take everything out then welded it back together for storage. Not sure why, but just figured if it's all in one part can't lose anything.

I had to start it up with no catback, damn was it loud. Especially in my garage. But I have to say the Loud Mouth II is quieter than I was expecting. I thought it was gonna be like cutout loud. But no, it's idle is almost perfect for me. It's fairly deep and mellow. Sounds great going through gears and at WOT it screeeeeams. No drone on the highway, but I do have a 6-speed so I'm sure that helps alot.

I have to say I like it alot. Just my opinion though. I will get a clip for you guys hopefully soon.
