Default Anyone with a FAST descreened the MAF to make it quieter?

Car is making a screeching sound from the maf screen now that's kinda annoying. While intimidating it gets old listening to it around town.

The sound seems to be coming from the MAF mesh, I am debating taking it out if it might make the noise go away, anyone tried it?

Sure its not the lid? Supposedly thats what the OEM baffles were for, to gut down on noise.

I have no lid, just a cone filter and tubing.

Pulled the filter and it was still there, stuck my ear close to the open tube (6 inches in front of the MAF and it sounded like a jet plane.

I dropped the starter because I thought I had a loose torque converter bolt or crack flexplate lol...it's loud.

I have a FAST and it is more noisy as more air is flowing through my 90/90 combo....it definitely makes a sucking noise(less after warmed up)....cannot say mine screeches though...weird. My 85mm MAF is a de-screened version though.

Are you sure it's your MAF. I have a stock screened MAF + FAST 90/90 and have no "screeching" sound.

I switched to a FAST 92/92 setup and have a constant loud sucking noise in the induction area....I think the noise is coming from the TB blade though...it's just resonating out to the air intake tube/MAF area....

What throttle body do you have? My edelbrock makes a horrible racket if I have the lid off while idling. You can tell that the IAC is fluctuating, by the different tones of whistling it makes.

Sure its not the IAC letting air through the throttle body?

I can eliminate the noise by adjusting my TB screw, but then the IAC overcompensates and the idle isn't good during cruise/in-gear.....

all of us fbody guys could not have the noise because we have a whole inductino setup and not just a filter -> pipe -> maf setup...

just an idea
