Default which is better. ls2 or ls6?

just was curious cause a buddy of mine says the ls6 intake is the same as an ls2 intake. no point in getting the ls2 intake, blah blah blah. someone please explain the differences of the two.

wow, he is way off. first off, the ls2 displaces 6 liters and was rated at about 400hp. the ls6 is 5.7 liters and is basically a ls1 with different heads cam and intake. not sure bout all the ls6's, but they had 28x reluctor wheels and the ls2 is a 58x. a few other differences to include location of knock sensors and i believe the valley cover was different. i'm no expert and def don't know all the differences, but these are the few that i know of. just remembered, they had the same heads.

Not all LS2's are 58x, when they began on the LS2 is hard to track. The best way to tell is by the color of the connector on the front cover for the cam sensor or the obvious, count the teeth on the reluctor wheel. I can't remember what's the color right now but there are plenty of venders and people here that can give the exact specifics on the connector.

ls2 intake takes 90mm tb, ls6 does not unless sent to tpis for modding. the ls2 stock is below the ls6. some say when the ls2 is ported by somebody decent it can be even or slightly better than a stock ls6. in my opinion it would be an ls6 unless i was going to a fast92

Not if he is saying the two intakes are the same. The LS6 out preforms the LS2 in stock forms. If you were thinking of swapping to an LS2 for your car it would be a downgrade yes.
