TB on stock LS6 manifold?
Hi all,
I have an LS6 crate engine with the DBW throttle body...I'd like to get rid of the DBW as I am doing this engine install in a 1969 Camaro and don't want the hassle of the pedal conversiion, etc. Is it worth the money for a higher airflow tb or should I just settle for a stock non-DBW tb? Possibly a ported tb? Any help would be appreciated!!

If you wanna keep the DBW, just get a 97-2004 corvette gas pedal, TAC module, and its plug and play, no hassle what so ever! Any good harness supplier will support this, pretty straight forward.

Thx everyone....I just bought a ported stock tb from one of the guys here on LS1TECH. My DBW TB from a vette is 78 mm (I believe) and the ported TB I just bought is from a Camaro/Firebird (75mm from what I read)...hopefully the porting will make up for the smaller orifice. I am an engineer so I tend to overthink things....3mm probably does not mean that much on a relatively stock motor.
I just am not a fan of DBW....what is the advantage? It seems like more weight and complexity for no gain???

Here's a clip I found about it:
"Drive by wire systems allows for a faster throttle response, better control over throttle application when combined with traction control and ABS and eliminates the need for a separate cruise control module. the system basically consists of the accelerator pedal with the built in potentiometer (variation of voltage output with pedal position), this is known as the APP (Accelerator Pedal Position), the TACS (Throttle actuator Controller) module and then the Servomotor and throttle sensor on the throttle body."

Thx Red....I don't have TC or ABS...cruise control doesn't matter either to me. As for throttle response....I might debate that with a GM engineer. I prefer the "feel" of a cable actuated pedal

weight? Maybe 1 or 2 pounds i guess?....not really a weight issue. you can have functioning cruise control, dont have to route a throttle cable, you wind up with a much smoother feeling pedal than most cable setups. to each his own....ive run both but for a stock or near stock buildup, id choose DBW

Dbw
Thanks LQ(...that is what I was asking
When you say smoother feel....can you feather the throttle the same as a cable? Do you sense feedback at all? I have asked a dozen people and get 12 different answers. I drag race a lot and try to find the right balance between max throttle without wheelspin...I assumed (maybe incorrectly) that I would not get the same feel or feedback with the DBW?
