Default Red fluids....?

Hey guys I've noticed lately a small puddle of some sort of red fluid dripping/leaking from my car. What fluids would be red in color?

I'm thinking power steering fluid... but is there any other type that's red?

Transmission and power steering are the two that immediately come to mind.

well it's not dexcool because I no longer use it and switched to the Prestone yellow/green stuff a while back.

It's a very good chance it's power steering fluid as it has sprung a leak on me 3 times... First time I changed the pump. And the last two times changing a line.

Hope it's not tranny but I'll check just in case...

Do you guys think it's a good idea to use some of that "stop leak" stuff in my power steering? Or does that cause more problems...?

I just replaced my pump with a remanufactured one from Pep Boys. My leak was the shaft seal, didn't want it dripping on my alternator.

I was impressed that it came with new O rings for the high pressure line and the reservoir. It also came with a simple nut/bolt/washer kit to press the pulley back on. I had the puller/installer so I didn't use it, nice touch anyway.

I wouldn't use that stuff man, just doesn't sound good. Since you have had problems before with the power steering it could very well be that again. I would just wipe it all down and see if its dripping down in any new spots and go from there. Good luck!
