Default Rasp Rasp Rasp

I have the $1,400 corsa catback exhaust on my 2000 trans am ws6 and im going to be buying hooker longtube headers soon. Therefore, i'm gonna be needing a y-pipe. I keep hearing that I need to keep my tsp catted y pipe because the high flow cats that are on it will keep the rasp away. If I were to go with a or-y, would I hear a lot of rasp with corsa catback, hooker longtubes, and or-y? Should I keep and use my catted y-pipe?

I think it will sound sick with corsa, and longtubes with an Off road y pipe. Rasp is really horrible with Loudmouth. That is rasp. It shouldnt be that bad with corsa.

I have heard that set up (Corsa+LT's+ORY) with a cam and it was really raspy. Maybe it would be better on stock internals?

Thats pretty surprising man. I know people think magnaflow is raspy..LOL.. its not even close to raspy. I honestly think that these Fbodies are raspy, and throaty sounding period. Except for probably GMMG, and Duals.

Maybe maybe not, i would say go with that setup with a bullet muffler in the y pipe and that will take away the rasp. It did with my magnalflow and ory and i have a crap merge.

The merge is what is gonna cause the rasp, the better the merge, the less the rasp. To the OP, check this out I just saw in the classifieds....

I would say it is caused more by removing the cats but yes the merge has a good amount to do with it.

^I agree. 1400 for exhaust holy ****, the only exhaust that i would spend that much on is a full LT and TD set up.

I tried a few different ORY setups but nothing ever fully got rid of my rasp. I just said screw it and got some true duals, no more rasp!

You need cats, trust me. My friend has a corsa (albeit cammed), but even when he was bolt ons it was raspy as hell. Just get the cats/merge. The merge will offset the minimal loss from adding cats

Mac mids, custom y with gutted hi flows, Flowmaster merge, and a Hooker catback on a cammed Z and I have absolutely no rasp.

I'll gladly take that Corsa off your hands if you need someone to dispose of it!

Jesus there needs to be a damn sticky about rasp..

Guys, using a FM merge ISN'T going to kill the rasp.. Take it from me, who has O/R Y with a GMMG c/b....

On my Custom Kooks O/R Y, yes I have a FM merge.. Rasp was still there..

What KILLED the rasp (about 98%) was adding a powerstick in my I-pipe..

If you do a search on my name in this section with any GMMG thread I ALWAYS pop up and give my .02

EDIT: here's an example... https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...ls-y-gmmg.html

FM merge with larger diameter than your Y pipe + small bullet in the I pipe should kill it!
