Default Alternator wires

I've been tracking down a problem with my car and might have found it. First the problem, when i crank my car up sometimes it likes to reset the computer which is giving me awful gas mileage. Can anyone tell me what the wire connections go to?

Is that a stock alternator or a truck higher amp alternator?

From what I remember ls1 f-body alternators only have one wire coming from the alternator connection.

So the alternator can work with that being the only wire? What are the other wires for?

The wiring harness on a F-body to the alternator has just that one wire in it.

I'd say it's highly doubtful that the alternator or it's connections are causing the PCM to reset when starting. Does this happen every time you start it? Check all your ground points as well as main positive connections. Are the battery connections good, clean and solid? Everything to the starter is good?

It doesnt happen everytime i start it just sometimes, the connections are good to the battery and the starter. This problem has been off and on, I've read that if your volts drop beyond a certain point on crank up it can cause it to reset. I got the alternator checked out and it was shot.

Cool. Did replacing the alternator fix your problem?

Usually, a bad alternator causes the battery to run low to the point that the engine won't crank.
