Default IAT Sensor Placment In A CAI

I put this together yesterday but was wondering if it matters where I place the IAT sensor? I was just going to see where the stock plug would reach and place it somewhere around there. Not opposed to extending the IAT harness to move it somewhere else if it beneficial.

I extended mine about 2ft down into the bumper. In 70° air my car was seeing IATs around 130-140, now it reads barely above ambient

all you have done, is feed the pcm false info....it's calculating fuel and spark based on bogus input....

Are you running a filter on it?

I'm going to be able to remove the velocity stack section and attach a filter when needed.

Filler plate should keep big debris out. Hopefully lol...

I like that ...That's what I'm going to do with mine... I also have a SD tune but I placed my IAT close to the TB.

I'll try tonight. Have to head to school after work if not tomorrow. I don't have a bumper support under there.

Ah... So that's why it picked up ET and mph without any knock present.

I agree. IAT seems to be used in a few airflow and spark tables. i guess there are ways around it though.

On a side note, I do wonder sometimes why the IAT wasn't just placed in the intake manifold rather than putting it before the TB and using (273.15+IAT+((ECT-IAT)*factor)) to calculate actual air temp in inside the intake manifold.

So what your saying is that in 60-70° weather my car was actually injesting 130°+ air. IAT relocations have worked for several people with 0 il effects. I'll stick with heat soaked sensor being the culprit in my case
