Yea, those will definitely suck in more hot air. A good lid setup with a CAI like TheBlueKnight said, will have better results.
FTRA, SSRA and SLP Flopac are cold air intakes or "scoops." SLP also makes a lid but it comes with the Flopac. There is also the Chrs1313 CAI you could look at.

Going from your username, is this for a motor swap into a fox body? Or is it for an f-body?
If it's for an f-body then you definitely want a lid/ram air scoop setup. If it's a fox body swap then you may have to fab something up, I'm not sure if the mustang swap guys can use our lid setups, since I'm not familiar with ls-swapped stangs.
Unless you're running without a hood though, the open cone filter is just going to suck up hot air.

Yea I sold my turbo fox and got a heads cam fbody and went faster lol. But thanks for the replys guess I will scratch the cone filter idea and look into a lid. Im going to a fast 102 setup so I was looking at the fast toys 104mm lid. That's the only reason im looking for different options cause I don't want to run the slp lid with a 102 tb
