Default God forsaken governor...

Is a tune the only way I can get around this, or is there a cheaper way?

Car bucks at 118ish...

Any help would be much appreciated

No properly running V8 (LT or LS) should be bucking at 118mph. Do you have a V6? If you have a V8 something is probably broken or needs replaced. Mine doesn't buck, it get a little floaty around 135mph, but it would smoothly reach 155.

Why do people have to answer when they don't know the answer???

If the car came with non Z rated tires, the speed limiter is indeed set at 118mph. It has to be tuned to change it. I think a handheld tuner can change it but I'm not sure. A person/shop with tuning software can change it for you. With Z rated tires, the speed limiter is set at 162mph.

Pardon me, from now on the whole board will wait for you to revel us in all your knowledge

Seriously though, I was unaware that Z28's came with 235's as the basic option until I found a post that broke it down.
Z28-standard P235/55R-16 Touring,Option P245/50ZR-16 Performance,Option P245/50ZR-16 All Season Performance
So while you are probably correct in this case, no need to be a dick about it

Blaker, you need to tell us the max speed on your speedo. 150 or 120 MPH.

It's a trivial change for somebody with the tools, and you
could probably make a better deal than a full tune if that
is all you want. Not that it's all you -should- want.
