Default Removing A/C belt

So I don't use my a/c but in the dead of.summer when the girl is with me.in the car. And now spring here in Oklahoma is slowly creeping up on us, I have been wondering, could I remove my A/C belt without problems
I'm not really looking for a.gain so to speak but is there a difference with and without the belt?

I pulled my belt off cause the tensioner was squeaking before I removed all of my a/c and didn't even make a difference from what I could tell

I'd leave it on. I took mine off and all it did was make the compressor noisy as hell when I did start using it again.

Also my understanding is it takes less than 1 HP to turn the pulley when the a/c isn't on. I took mine out cause its not a DD and if it's really hot out, I'll drive my other car.

OK I may just leave it on like.I.said I wasn't looking.for a gain just to preserve the clutch in the A/C from what I have been.told.if you don't use it often that the clutch won't.engage when you do want to use it

I would leave it on, there is no reason not to, I always turn my compressor on every so often just to get some oil circulating in it and to keep the clutch from freezing up.

I recommend leaving it on. My A/C belt broke a year ago and last week I put a new one on and my compressor sounded like a blender that someone threw a handful of marbles into. I still get cold air but it is not worth the sound.

When you turn your defrost on (which I would imagine you do use in the winter) it automatically cuts on the compressor. All newer cars are like this because they realized that seals and compressors were going bad in the spring because noone was using their AC in the winter.

Running A/C during defrost dehumidifies the air and
makes defrost work better.

A/C compressor cools the evap and strips the water,
then it is post-heated and ducted to the windshield.

All of a piece, it's just diverter flaps inside and whether
the evap is getting fed or not. A/C gets cold, no heat;
defrost gets both in tandem.
