Default Underdrive pulley

I pulled my stock 98 corvette balancer off today and it was light compared to a summit racing underdrive pulley.is all brand underdrive pulleys way heavier than the stock balancer or is there a lighter brand

SLP claims to be lighter than stock.

Powerbond makes the SLP pulley. The Powerbond is the same pulley for less.

I've seen threads of Summit's pulley coming apart. I wouldn't buy one.

The SLP pulley is a Power-Bond pulley (exactly, down to the part #). It says Power-Bond right on the pulley.

My SLP Pulley was cheaper than the branded power-bond and it came with a bolt. It all depends on where you buy it.

I have a Powerbond 25% underdrive on my C5 and the Powerbond was heavier than the stock pulley for sure. Don't have a pic on a scale to prove it though.

The powerbond is slightly heavier than stock. You can also get it as a kit from SDPC for $219 which includes an arp style permanent bolt and new belts.

I weighed both when I did my cam swap. Stock was 10.6 LBS

Powerbond was 11.4 LBS

The F-body crank pulley should weigh a little bit more.

The crank pulley for the vette does sit closer to the engine block(shorter) than the F-body pulley does.

As long as you are running f-body drive accessories and there isn't a spacing issue in the fox body then it should be fine. If you go with a y-body pulley, you will need to use y-body front accessories since the pulley alignment will be slightly different.

The little bit of extra mass isn't always a bad thing, esp. @ higher rpm's

I get my SLP underdrive pulley either today or tomorrow.

Does it provide a noticeable difference when driving on the street? I've been reading some reviews around the internet that make me think I may have wasted some money when I could have just bought the super damper.

If your not going to be doing internal mods I'd say the SLP is all you will need. You start needing a super damper when you start installing camshafts and have a need to turn over 6500 rpm's etc. Your not going to "feel" any difference on the street but it shows on the time slip at the track..
