Probably piston slap. It should go away as the engine gets hotter.

If you can hear it standing beside the car and it sounds like it is coming from underneath the car it is probably "piston slap". Put some 0w40 Mobil 1 synthetic in your car and that should help a little.

If you can get a decent sound clip that would help. PS kinda makes a "clacking" sound, mine used to go away when I would let it warm up for a little bit and bring the RPM's up to about 1600 and let off then it would stop........but that was then... now the PS lasts for like 10 mins or more...basterds!!!

ya i had that happen to mine, one day (after breaking 2 rockers) it started knocking really loud on cold startups then would still be there but real faint once warm....now look what happened...

lol don't let this scare you, yours is probably just piston slap, hopefully. Did you do anything before it started knocking?

Yup it does sound like PS. For anyone that has never heard it you prolly won't be able to pick it up in the vid due to the other noise. The best way to really hear mine nice and clear is to wait for the AIR pump to shut off, leave the hood shut and stand about 10ft away because from there the PS will easily drowned out all the other engine related noises and stand out like a sore thumb......sux

Ive never had it dyno'd but my car pulls like a bitch, at least compared to my first T/a, a 2000 T/A A4. All I have in the car right now is a lid, filter, and LM catback. That run was about as perfect as I think I could possibly drive the car given my current skill level. Id never be able to run that now though...my clutch is burned to ****

There was a Technical Service Bulletin on it. I think you have to take it to the dealer and be irate about getting it fixed.

I had the same exact noise on my 2002 Z, Brought it to the dealer. They ended up changing my lifters, since they had the motor out I had them install a tr224 cam package and slip a $100 to the technician for the extra work. No more friggin noises! just the sweet sound of the tr224 and true duals ! . w/ all my mods below my car still has warranty, they love it when I bring the Z in.lol
