Default Ebay header stainless bolts or studs.

Anyone here use the ebay stainless header bolts or studs? Don't know which to get thinking of trying out some studs..

I use ARP's studs and prefer studs over bolts. It makes hanging headers by your self easier and the 12pt nuts have a nice look.

I know demonspeed went with ebay's. He has a thread on his Camaro somewhere where he talsk about it, but I cant find the specific thread.. I actually asked him where he got his and then bought a set myself. I have not installed the headers yet, but the bolts feel and look like quality items IMO.

I've used the ebay studs on two cars and I'll use them again on my next LS. There are two big advantages I appreciate comparing header studs to bolts. First, it is easier to install the headers yourself when you can hang the flange on the studs rather than trying to thread a bolt into the head. Second is that you can bottom out the stud and apply the critical 18ft-lbs of clamping force to all of the head's threads. The second means more to me, and that's why I'll stick with studs from here on.

Out of curiosity, does anyone have a hard time getting the headers off with the motor in car?

Hey Paul how do you recommend installing these studs bring the headers up and put em in or is there enough room to put em in and then bring the headers up? BTW headers are Kooks stepped 1-3/4 to 1-7/8.

I'd get a stud in the rear hole, hang the header on that then get the front hole. Slip in the gasket then get the rest.

Well, the studs I bought for MY car wound up getting used on the wife's Escalade

Went on no problem, good thread on the studs. The nuts with the knurled backside seem to be keeping tight, so no issues there.

Overall I like them, and will be getting another set, again, for my car.

I found the studs a bit too long for my taste. I cut about 1/4" off and there's still plenty of stud sticking thru the nut after tightening. Also makes it a little easier to put the headers on with all the studs in place.

That's actually a suggestion I was going to make to Zack, having them about a 1/2" shorter.
