Default K&N air filter???

i got a question some of the guys around here were strongly suggesting against getting a K&N air filter for my car because they say the oil from the filter gets on ur maf and in ur intake and eventually destroys your car . well i was wondering if there was any truth to this and if i should buy one for my car or not

Yea, it will if you over-oil it when you clean it. To get all the way into your manifolds would mean you seriously over oiled.

The oil will not eventually "destroy your car". And, as Gloveperson stated, over-oiling can lead to deposits that will dirty the MAF.

Many feel that the cotton/oil type filters (like K&N) will allow more dirt into the motor than the paper filters. As I've seen zero gains from using K&N filters on my LS1s in the past, I've gone back to paper.

4 yrs. w/ a K&N here without a prob. Just don't over oil it, and if you do, it's pretty easy to clean the MAF.

i dont think you should worry about it. I haven't seen anyone who got much out of a K&N filter. save the 50 and put it towards something better. I definetly dont think you will see much in the way of gains from this filter.
